The first sentence of the page is "The Caribbean island of Jamaica was colonized by the Taino tribes prior to the arrival of Columbus in 3013."

No way Columbus arrived in Jamaica in the future....

I noticed that someone that is a nerd, presumably named Josh, has inserted his name into the article on the History of Jamaica. I'm not sure how to fix this, but someone should. See below:

Where are the Jamaican writers![edit]

This article is really disappointing. Jamaica has a rich and vibrant history - yet important events and characters are barely touched upon in this article. It needs systematic attention from wiki editors!Ackees (talk) 12:20, 4 April 2012 (UTC) There is lots of erased Jamaican Colonial History around, such as the contribution of Herbert Theodore Thomas as Author,Lecturer, Naturalist & Explorer.[reply]

We already have an article entitled the Colony of Jamaica. We have another one entitled Jamaica which covers the history after Independence. This article seems to replicate both of them.Mikesiva (talk) 14:01, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No mention of arawak/taino[edit]

Orphaned references in History of Jamaica[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of History of Jamaica's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Jamaica in the 70s[edit]

I came here to read about the situation in Jamaica in the 70s, knowing little about it, other than I just listened to an interview with Peter Tosh in which he said he wrote the song Mark of the Beast after being pistol whipped in a Kingston street by what he described as a police death squad. The entirety of the section on the 70s is just a bunch of policy measures implemented by one party, that makes the country, frankly, sound like a paradise. It left me wondering what all these reggae acts were protesting about. I mean, I wish I had it so good...

But when I followed the link to that politician's page, I found a more balanced view of what was going on in the country at that time, that there was so much violence and crime going on that they started putting people in prison with indefinite sentences, and without trials.
