The one tonne challenge is very special. We should all pitch in and try it out.

The United States actually tried its own version of the one-tonne challenge in the 1970's. It didn't work very well.

Reference missing?[edit]

The line " It has been mocked in a This Hour Has 22 Minutes skit." is misleading, and should be referenced.

The author was probably remembering that Rick Mercer (of The Mercer Report and This Hour Has 22 Minutes) was hired as a spokesperson for the One-Tonne Challenge. He did ads on the subject that ran during commercial breaks. There may have been a parody as well, but my search did not turn it up.
