Creation of this page[edit]

In case anyone's wondering, this cafe is actually pretty famous amongst climbers, so I thought it worthy of an encyclopedia article. Feel free to discuss. Ojw 20:33, 4 Jan 2005 (UTC)

populated by climbers[edit]

I've put the unreferenced tag back on "traditionally populated by climbers". This means the cafe was populated only by climbers, or at least in majority by climbers. While we do have a reference saying that it was frequented by climbers, we don't have a reference which supports the rather extreme claim made by the article. There's also no source for the rest of the sentence, which says something about mugs (of tea? beer? coffee?) were made especially for the shop. (By whom? The rest of the sentence is about climbing photographs on the wall and this is also unsourced, so I have moved the tag to the end of the sentence so it refers to the whole sentence. That is the convention. Is this an acceptable compromise, even though I doubt anyone is questioning the photos on the wall? Can some UK based climber please give some references from climbing magazines to Pete's. It must be referenced there many times. --Bduke 23:35, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The mugs, possibly, but let us see whether it gets expanded. The photographs might be notable as indeed are the stuff added over a much longer period of time at the climbing pub at the highest point of the pass on the side of Snowdon (I see the pub is now a Youth Hostel - see Pen-y-Pass - not sure if the stuff is still there. I may be thinking of the Pen-y-Gwryd hotel anyway). I'd prefer to see whether some UK editors, who know the sources better than I do, can contribute. My only knowledge of Pete's is that I walked past it a year ago and thought - that's where all the climbers hang out. Llanberis is a very important climbing centre being at the foot of Snowdon. --Bduke 01:38, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pete's Eats has closed ![edit]

Passed the sad building today (April 2023) The inside has been gutted. Apparently the 'new' owner (bought 2018) was unable to recover from the 2020-2021 Pandemic slowdown, and has closed the business and the building is up for sale. It is unlikely to reopen anytime soon, and may well be shops or housing Severndroog (talk) 19:42, 11 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
