needs NPOV work[edit]

Reads like a commercial, needs NPOV work, I don'tk now enough about the subject to make specific suggestions. Pakaran (ark a pan) 05:15, 25 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Did what I could to balance it a little more. Just started working with the project, so I'll add more as necessary. EighenIndemnis

I have reworded it a bit more. I have worked with TikiWiki for several years, but I think this is a reasonably neutral description now. awcolley 23:11, 22 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Removing the NPOV warning. If the current wording is still non-neutral, please advise. awcolley 21:07, 27 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Does anyone what criticisms of tikiwiki there are? They should be added, otherwise the article seems biased. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.23.213.144 (talk) 02:38, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

TikiWiki not at all a structured wiki like dasiy, Foswiki or TWiki is. Its not usable with a database like approach. The structure they mean is creating a content structure like a book :-(

http://doc.tikiwiki.org/Trackers (forms & database) & http://doc.tikiwiki.org/Structures (book) are different features. Marclaporte (talk) 21:42, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Article now contains a number of external references with links. I would like to remove the Original research notice. Ricks99 (talk) 13:53, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • With no objections noted, I am removing the Original research notice --Ricks99 (talk) 17:14, 21 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Office Suite"?[edit]

The page header describes TikiWiki as an "office suite", and it's included in Comparison of office suites, but how is it an office suite as opposed to a CMS? An office suite usually has the capacity to handle different document/file types such as spreadsheet, image, database, etc. If TikiWiki can do all that, it isn't mentioned on this page. Morfusmax (talk) 19:37, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

@Morfusmax: It is both. Please see: http://doc.tiki.org/Spreadsheet, http://doc.tiki.org/Draw, http://doc.tiki.org/Trackers, http://doc.tiki.org/Slideshow --Marclaporte (talk) 05:45, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No, not really. Yes, it has SOME functionalities that office suites also have, but if that would be a valid criterion to label software "office suite" than almost ANY software would qualify. Office suites are bundles (or integrated software) that COMBINE everything around the needs of an office, that is: word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and e-mail client. A drawing module is not "presentation". Microsoft Office, which undoubtedly is an office suite, does not have a drawing module, only Office Professional, that includes Visio. But Tiki Wiki has nothing even remotely similar to Powerpoint (or Word or Outlook). And since Tiki Wiki is a client/server installation that needs PHP, Apache, MySQL servers, you wouldn't run that in an office. 2001:A61:BEF:6201:B940:7592:5D4B:19FF (talk) 09:38, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

PHP[edit]

"It will run on any server that provides PHP 5". That is no longer true. Only the two year old (expiration date 2023) LTS 18, which is only barely maintained, runs on PHP 5.6, current releases (ALL versions after 19) must be installed on PHP 7.1 or newer. 2001:A61:BEF:6201:B940:7592:5D4B:19FF (talk) 09:31, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Project team[edit]

"Tiki is under active development[9] by a large international community of over 300 developers and translators,[10] and is one of the largest open-source teams in the world.[11]"

[9] is a dead link, and [11] very old. Is Tiki Wiki really maintained on SourceForge? I thought that is what dev.tiki.org is for. And there I do not see "over 300 developers". Actually, about a dozen are visible... What is the basis for the claim of over 300? 2001:A61:BEF:6201:B940:7592:5D4B:19FF (talk) 10:04, 15 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, still on Sourceforge: https://sourceforge.net/projects/tikiwiki/

Contributors: https://sourceforge.net/p/tikiwiki/_members/

That's just a list of users subscribing or that have once supplied something. It's not a proof that these people are actively developing. The number of people active on dev.tiki.org is much smaller. 2001:A61:BC7:8D01:D1CF:4E7D:1163:EFBC (talk) 18:03, 23 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

On Gitlab, the number of devs listed is just around 60...2001:A61:BC7:8D01:D1CF:4E7D:1163:EFBC (talk) 18:12, 23 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Languages[edit]

The claim of 30 languages does not stand a test. Many languages are only rudimentarily supported. 134.247.251.245 (talk) 16:01, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
