"Pure black, black and tan, and white are not permitted. " - is this true of the AKC? From the standard it seems any colour other than white is OK in the US [1]. All other standards are clear on this -- sannse (talk) 12:05, 27 Mar 2005 (UTC)

You are correct about the US/AKC standard. It is the FCI standard (Word doc) that excludes those colors. With a change in the Candadian standard due in 2006 to reference the FCI (previously it referenced the US standard), the US will be the only country using the AKC standard. There is a section that uses the term "irresponsible breeding". Is this a real term, or is this a value judgement? If it's a value judgement, it seems inappropriate. --JensWilkinson 06:05, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why on earth would dogs be ratting in cairns? This is an unlikely rationalisation of the name[edit]
