Date of death of first wife[edit]

by inference the dedication in this book http://www.gutenberg.org/dirs/1/5/0/2/15025/15025-h/15025-h.htm suggests she died on DECEMBER 6 1893, not in 1894 as stated in the article --Tagishsimon (talk)

Whose daughter was Gwen Le Gallienne?[edit]

Both the current and an older 1959 version of the Oxford DNB state that Gwen was Richard and Irma's daughter. The latter says that a drawing of Richard by Gwen is "in her possession" and among the sources lists "private information; personal knowledge". This could mean that Gwen, who by 1959 lived in London, was known to the author and considered herself to be Le Gallienne's daughter, not Hinton Perry's. This could mean that Richard already had an affair with Irma as early as 1900, while both where still married to their previous spouses. Within the Perry family it was always believed that Le Gallienne was cause for the break up of Hinton Perry's first marriage (personal knowledge). Gwen's year of birth, however, is also not certain: the NY Times announcement by her mother and Le Gallienne of her (short-lived) marriage on 1 Dec 1919 to the Dutch-born Violinist André Polah gives her first name as "Gwendolyn", describes her as "the daughter of of Mrs. Le Gallienne by her first husband" and as "just 20" years old. Her death records at Kensington and Chelsea from Nov 1990 give her first name as "Gwendoline" and her date of birth as 5 Nov 1908. She may well have fiddled her DOB over her long life in order to infer that Le Gallienne rather than Perry was her natural father. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.27.56.1 (talk) 17:22, 17 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
