Smaalenene[edit]

I believe only the interior municipalities of Østfold are part of Smaalenene. At least that's what several websites dedicated to the area seem to assert. --Leifern 08:30, May 30, 2005 (UTC)

Symbol[edit]

Uh...the symbol of Østfold does not represent bear puke...

From the article: "The logo of Østfold refers to the airborne puke of the vomiting bear of Eidsberg. The reason for this, is to remember that Eidsberg once was the capitol of Norway. Østoldinger like to hang on to this memory."

The truth from Østfold's website "Symbolikken i Østfold fylkeskommunes våpenskjold er valgt ut ifra fylkets navn og geografisk plassering. Den skrått oppadgående solfiguren på rød bunn spiller på forestillinger fra en svunnen kultus, og er uløselig knyttet til forestillingen om den livgivende sol og naturens grokraft. Den flammeformede strålen betyr varme, de to rette spissene symboliserer lyset."

Haha! Well, I for one am amused. Anyway, try asking this fellow, since he's the one who inserted that hillarious claim into the article. //Big Adamsky 20:37, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dialect[edit]

The county slogan: "The heartland of Scandinavia". The local dialect is characterized by the geographical proximity to Sweden. The dialect has a low status elsewhere in the country. Many people reckon it sounds rather stupid, and feels that it gives signals of being a dialect spoken by simple, low range people [1]. This is why increasingly more people are turning away from the original dialect to a more neutral form. [2]

Needs NPOV-ing; I can't read the source articles though (in Norwegian). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Blodulv (talkcontribs) 05:16, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the section wich referred to two articles in Norwegian about the dialects of Østfold. The section made claims wich were not supported by the articles, and since they are written in Norwegian, they are not verifiable for non-Norwegian readers. The form and subject of the section was also not suitable for an encyclopedic entry about a county. Anabiose (talk) 21:54, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
