Correct title?[edit]

*points to title screen* It says Pilotwings, rather than PilotWings. Which capitalization is correct? - Vague | Rant 09:22, Feb 6, 2005 (UTC)

A quick google check shows Pilotwings is a lot more common than PilotWings. However, the official nintendo.com site has "PilotWings 64" but there's no entry for the SNES Pilotwings. --24.114.252.183 17:00, 8 Feb 2005 (UTC)
The SNES game list on Nintendo.com lists it as Pilotwings. Even the title screen and the box art represent this, as was noted. --TheDotGamer | Talk 19:40, Feb 8, 2005 (UTC)
Ok, can we consider it enough concensus to move the page to Pilotwings? --24.114.252.183 22:15, 8 Feb 2005 (UTC)
I think so, and I have moved the page (and changed the capitalization in the article and in linked articles). The title screen and Google popularity test are proof enough. --Slowking Man 00:54, Feb 9, 2005 (UTC)
Eh... we should've waited on this, actually, since the "comparison" thing won't work so well if it's strewn across two pages.
So, how are we going to deal with this? Head back to PilotWings, slap in the final version of Pilotwings, save, and then immediately edit back in the redirect? That would mean the original and final versions are both on the same page, so we can make the comparison properly.
Alternatively, I (or somebody else) could take the code from the version of when the GCotW started for the game, paste it into a new update here which will overwrite everything else in here, save, and then immediately revert, which means the original will be available for the comparison when the final is reached.
Thoughts? --Shadow Hog 02:11, 9 Feb 2005 (UTC)
I don't think we need to do all this stuff just for the GCotW page. It's not as if the GCotW is what matters, it's the article that matters. - Vague | Rant 05:38, Feb 9, 2005 (UTC)
I'm not entirely sure what you're talking about. I think you're saying that part of the article history is at PilotWings. If so, this is incorrect; the page history is all here; it comes along for the move. --Slowking Man 07:26, Feb 9, 2005 (UTC)
Aaah. Can't believe I never knew that... Well, then consider it a moot point, then. --Shadow Hog 21:48, 9 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I don't know which (if any) would be useful in the article, so I'll leave them here for some opinions. - Vague | Rant 12:38, Feb 6, 2005 (UTC)

Aren't real console screenshots more desirable than emulator screenshots? What with subtle errors, or extra features like high-res mode7 or de-pixellation filters. --24.114.252.183 21:21, 6 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Emulator shots are A-OK, given that almost every other game page on Wikipedia makes use of them. Even ones whose emulation is LADEN with these extra effects, like the PS1 - and they don't bother to turn off the effects to make it look accurate, either. --Shadow Hog 21:35, 6 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Sounds like a reason for an addition to the guidelines. ;) At least to turn off high-res modes and texture enhancements. --24.114.252.183 23:33, 6 Feb 2005 (UTC)
I don't have any extra features enabled, as I prefer to play my games the way they were originally. - Vague | Rant 01:40, Feb 7, 2005 (UTC)
Do you have any of landings, crashes, or maybe an instructor's reaction? How about one from the helicopter level, with some enemy bullets in the air?--24.114.252.183 21:31, 7 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Consistency and bonus[edit]

There are a number of consistency issues, especially with capitalization of the events. When someone has a chance, they should look at them. Also, there was some POV in this. The section on the helicopter mission said it was nearly impossible to complete without shooting some of the turrets. I think anyone who's ever played this game knows that it's trivial to dodge them as long as you don't continue on the same vector once they fire — a simple juke will suffice, even. Also the turrets that aren't on screen don't fire at you, so flying low enough and in the right path will also work. Additionally, this article needs a section on the penguin & flying jumper guy bonus stages for landing on the moving platforms. Just some suggestions. Cheers. CryptoDerk 02:41, Feb 8, 2005 (UTC)
