Steven Spielberg[edit]

Spielberg did not live in Haddonfield and, even though he said so himself, he did not live in Haddon Heights. The Spielberg family lived for about five years, from 1952, at 267 Crystal Terrace, Haddon Township. Since that part of Haddon Township uses the Haddonfield ZIP Code, its residents often say they live in Haddonfield, for convenience. When Spielberg commented, as an adult, that he lived in Haddon Heights as a young child, he likely simply misremembered the name of his hometown. Haddonfield, Haddon Heights, and Haddon Township – sometimes referred to as "The Haddons" – are more-or-less contiguous communities. Spielberg likely roamed all three of them. There are references to Spielberg's having seen the 1952 film "The Greatest Show on Earth" in the Westmont movie theater, in Haddon Township. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 321hunter (talkcontribs) 12:05, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Alansohn, please stop removing references to Steven Speilberg. Several sites state he lived in Haddonfield, not in Haddon Heights. Here are a few: http://www.wireimage.com/Celebrities/Steven-Spielberg http://www.thelot.com/about/steven-spielberg/ http://www.filmmakers.com/artists/spielberg/biography/index.htm http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/people/shows/spielberg/timeline.html If you insist he was raised in Haddon Heights, please provide your proof. Otherwise I would like to re-add the entry, please. Agentdenim 19:01, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Here is the source I had added at Haddon Heights, New Jersey: Spielberg's family values, USA Today by Anthony Breznican, June 23, 2005. "I first became aware of the sky when my father pointed out the Perseid meteor shower to me when I was about 6 years old, living in Haddon Heights, N.J.," This quote seemed most definitive to me as a source, as it comes straight from the horse's mouth. I did a Google search on "raised in the suburbs of Haddonfield New Jersey and Scottsdale Arizona" and found multiple sites that all seem to use the same wording, including both the filmmakers.com and thelot.com sources you cited. I'd have more of a problem challenging the CNN.com reference, which is usually a reliable source. While I'd prefer to settle on one or the other, we do seem to have reliable sources for both. May I suggest that we say in both that there are source that he grew up in Haddonfield, but other sources say Haddon Heights, citing both sources and doing so at both articles. We should probably look for a more definitive source to pin down the location. I have still not seen any reliable reference to justify that the use of Haddonfield as a place name in movies is intentional. Alansohn 20:16, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The confusion here is rooted in the fact that the area of Haddon Heights Spielberg lived in was under the Haddonfield mailing address. Often times Haddonfield and Haddon Heights were used relatively interchangeably. I think if you were to look at the actual borders, one would see he did indeed live in Haddon Heights, though he does talk of his childhood in Haddonfield as that was the nearest town center and where the local movie theater was.

I'll agree that's definitive. I'm content leaving it off if Spielberg himself said it. Thanks for the follow-up. Interesting side note, the Wikipedia entry for Steven Spielberg says he grew up in Haddon Township. Maybe this is one of them things that nobody will ever know. Heights it is, as far as I am concerned. Thanks again. Agentdenim 00:50, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Haddonfield Four?[edit]

Should I add a very short section on the famous scandal involving the Haddonfield Four? I'm sure it would be deleted for vanity-ness, but I still think it deserves a mention. Eszett 07:43, 30 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Forgive my ignorance, but who were the "Haddonfield Four" and what was the scandal?

A few highschool students attempted to vandalize the Haddonfield teacher's eboards, were caught, and subsequently suspended. For some reason, these four kids and three or four of their friends think this is a "scandal" that anyone outside their circle cares about. It isn't. --SonicDeathMonk3y 23:10, 22 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I have nothing against the building, but the article has no sources and does not seem to claim notability. There's room for most of the info here in this article, and I suggest a merge into the municipal article. Alansohn (talk) 22:39, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merge - I agree, it does not seem to establish notability for its own sake. I think this article, if trimmed down to fit Wikipedia's standards a little more tightly, would be a perfect fit into the Haddonfield article. By itself, however, it just doesn't seem to constitute an entry. -Jrcla2 (talk)(contribs) 20:01, 16 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Merge - Agree. Should be on main page. shirulashem (talk) 17:11, 29 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Merge- Agree for reasons stated above.--Hi540 (talk) 22:20, 13 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Transportation[edit]

The picture of the train has nothing to do with the text in the "Transportation" section. While the picture shows the Haddonfield PATCO station, the train in the picture is a NJ Transit train and those trains DO NOT stop in Haddonfield. Lusluckylad (talk) 20:12, 1 November 2011 (UTC) That picture is taken from the Haddonfield PATCO Station. I do agree that it should be changed though. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Andrew T Coleman (talkcontribs) 19:05, 20 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
