notes[edit]

This was not the bloodiest war until WW1.[edit]

The statement "The war was the biggest and bloodiest war in history until the First World War". Taiping Rebellion (1850-1864) was larger & bloodier than Napoleon. there were many wars pre Napoleonic wars that was deadlier. Most of them were in china. was the Napoleon wars the most bloodiest war for Europe up to that point of time? No, that would go to the Thirty Years War (1618-1648). Question on Infobox - reparations[edit]

Why is the monetary nomination for reparations in Euros in the infobox? I assume that is the equivalent to modern day Euros. If the actual currency that was used at the time can't be put into the infobox, is there a way to make it clear that it's the equivalent of modern day Euros to avoid any misconceptions? @Royal Autumn Crest: It can't be modern euros, as those amounts would be nominal. I came to say exactly the same thing! I assume a conversion of francs to euros has been done, but it's a nonsense. The relevant currencies are either French Francs or British Pound Sterling. Since only one of those is currently in use, I'd lean towards using £, as it also makes an inflation adjustment a question of a simple multiplication based on Bank of England data, and thus a WP:CALC, rather than risking being Original Research, which any complexity involving the end of the Franc may involve. I think if there is a conversion, it should at least be noted that it's an equivalent just to make sure nobody that is unaware might think that Euros existed back then. I am fine with pounds or francs as well. (Would assume that most people realize Euros did not exist then, but it would be better to clarify for the sake of accuracy.) They were the most widespread and costly wars in European history before World War I?[edit]

But wasn't the Thirty Years War the costliest/Deadliest war within Europe until WW1? TaipingRebellion1850 (talk) 21:39, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Reliable sources seem to maintain that the Napoleonic Wars were more deadly. If you find sources that say contrary, you should add them here and we could discuss their merits. ~ Pbritti (talk) 22:40, 15 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No sources of the Napoleonic wars show that the death toll surpasses the thirty years war. Napoleonic wars claimed no less than 3.5 million to possibly as high as 6.5 million. It even states these figures on this article. The Thirty Years War claimed around 4.5 million to 8 million best estimates while the highest estimate is 12 million. 98.17.235.223 (talk) 05:35, 16 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Pbritti I could not find any sources that shows Napoleon wars death toll higher than the Thirty Years War. Napoleon Wars claimed around 3,500,000-6,500,000 deaths, while the Thirty Years War claimed 4,500,000-8,000,000 deaths. TaipingRebellion1850 (talk) 20:15, 16 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Romania: Napoleonic Wars[edit]

During the early stages of the napoleonic wars, Romania at the time known as Wallachia, Transylvania, Moldova, were all ruled by someone, Transylvania: Austria, Wallachia: Ottoman Empire, Moldova: Russian Empire, Transylvania along side Croatia were soldiers for Austria known as Austrian Grenzers, Transylvanian uniforms oftenly had lime green cuffs and collars, Wallachia on the other hand helped the Ottomans fight the French Empire but we didn't see much action from Wallachia in the Napoleonic Wars, Moldova fighting for the Russian Empire which was a big thing for Romania since Russia and Romania have been trying to claim Moldova for centuries, after the Napoleonic Wars Romania would cease to be normal until 1866 during the Russo-Turkish War, Romanian Uniforms looked alot like Hesse-Darmstadt uniforms but Wallachian uniforms were normal Wallachian uniforms which was leather, other hand Transylvania having Austrian Grenzer uniforms, Romanian Enemy: French Empire
