List duplication[edit]

Aivin G., you might want to keep the list of alumni to List of Somerville College, Oxford people. This page is already long and the purpose of subpages is to allow this article to be a summary of key material. Similar for the Presidents, the table is duplication of the subpage Aloneinthewild (talk) 15:23, 1 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, I've shortened the section Aivin G. (talk) 16:45, 1 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Looking better, but I would not collapse the table. I would remove it entirely from this page. Collapsible sections are never ideal, see MOS:COLLAPSE Aloneinthewild (talk) 16:57, 1 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Done, thanks Aivin G. (talk) 17:16, 1 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Admitting state pupils[edit]

I would like to update the lead to say that 56.8% of the UK students admitted to Somerville in the years 2015 to 2017 were educated at state schools, which is in line with the university average. This is based on the university's latest report (link: https://www.ox.ac.uk/sites/files/oxford/Oxford%202018%20Annual%20Admissions%20Report.pdf) based on 2015 to 2017 admissions.

The principal commented on that figure (link: https://www.some.ox.ac.uk/news/from-the-principal-the-change-we-desperately-need/).

The lead currently states that "Together with St Peter's it has the best record of admitting state school pupils among the Oxford colleges.[1]

However: 1) The lead is out of date as it is based on a Guardian report based on a Sutton trust report (link: https://www.suttontrust.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/Oxbridge-Admissions-01.02.16.pdf), which is based on 2011 to 2013 admissions.

2) The calculation used is also flawed as it looks at places offered per applicant, which is higher when a college attracts fewer applicants. This is discussed in the comments on the Guardian article.TSventon (talk) 14:44, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Now updated.TSventon (talk) 10:43, 8 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
