NPOV[edit]

This article needs to be made NPOV... I feel like I'm trying to be coerced into joining. --Hersch 04:50, 8 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • OK. Let's discuss. It's a Jewish organization with Jewish values like any other. You wanting to join an organization that may or may not be in line with your personal or religious values does not make it un-NPOV. This is a tough issue to address. Is this a movement issue? How can we improve? --yonkeltron 04:06, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)
  • Agreed. I feel an article on USY should discuss the controversy over the USY's informal 'point system' as referenced in a January 1999 issue of The Forward [1], and responded to by USY officials here: [2] if it is to avoid being POV.Ferret-aaron 05:56, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sources[edit]

This article was nominated for deletion, and although it was given a temporary reprieve, it needs some reliable third-party sources showing it's notable, and perhaps some information about something other than its list of programs. It has to read like an encyclopedia article and not a commercial, or someone will nominate it for deletion again. Cheers, SlimVirgin (talk) 22:26, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a brief historical item and a reference. More needs to be done, to see what this article ought to look like, see the NFTY article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ricardianman (talkcontribs) 21:41, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

IGB[edit]

Agreed, added Cleanup and citations to the article. --User:Ben Regelshore 20:50, 24 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is it really necessary to include the names of the current IGB and IEB members? Especially since terms are only a year. --Sgeress (talk) 02:36, 13 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nassau County[edit]

Could someone from METNY more clearly define what parts of Nassau County are in Chazak, and what parts are in Rakevet? Right now, terminology like "most" is kind of vague.69.158.59.206 22:22, 5 November 2006 (UTC)\[reply]

New Frontier[edit]

Why is New Frontier named such? Right now, I just put a "?" and a link to edit the information, but no-ones added the reason. I was gonna say it has to do with JFK's New Frontier speech, but I think that was in SoCal. Jeztah 20:27, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed the page currently says the reason is Based on the Film "New Frontier" with John Wayne. I doubt this is the real reason. Can anyone support this claim? If not I'm going to remove it. --Fez2005 (talk) 00:24, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's because it was admitted as a later region. The name of the region doesn't quite matter. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.92.13.221 (talk) 15:37, 12 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nicknames[edit]

Seems like it would be more appropriate for the regional president nicknames to be on the official USY website rathern than on Wikipedia, wouldn't it? --Fez2005 (talk) 07:18, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would agree. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and the nicknames, especially the way they are formatted at this time, do not belong here and as such I am reverting them. Dbiel (Talk) 23:00, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy[edit]

The following phrases look odd on their own:

Some controversy surrounds USY. A the majority of these allegations are unfounded.
It should be noted that this is no longer true. USY welcomes everyone regardless of race or ethniciy. The only reason in which one may not be accepted into USY is if one is not Jewish.

What is unfounded? What is no longer true? Clearly these are responses to statements which have since been deleted. But they cannot stay as they are without some description of the controversy.--Rumping (talk) 02:19, 27 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why no history section.[edit]

Why isnt there any background or history of USY? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.64.195.45 (talk) 01:26, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a bit, and a reference that can be used to add some more. Ricardianman (talk) 21:43, 6 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Delete, redirect, or merge CRUSY article?[edit]

United Synagogue Youth consists of 17 regions, yet Central Region of United Synagogue Youth (CRUSY) inexplicably is the only one of the 17 that has its own article. Why? I cleaned up the CRUSY article for now to remove all the inappropriate and non-encylopedic content - such as names of of it officers (who are all high school students) and dates/locations of events - but the important question is should it be deleted? Or merged into United Synagogue Youth? Is CRUSY even notable, per Wikipedia guidelines? And IF, for some reason, it is decided that the CRUSY article should stay, the list of the chapter's region's must be corrected. It currently lists 26 chapters, yet CRUSY's official website lists only 20 chapters, some of which are not even on the article's list. And are the chapters nicknames/abbreviations (examples: A2USY, BuckUSY, GRUSY) even necessary, or encylopedic? In any case, those issues may be moot depending on the decision of what to do with the CRUSY article. It just doesn't seem to make sense that 16 out of 17 chapters do not have an article, but CRUSY does. Should it be deleted? Merged? Thoughts? --76.189.98.15 (talk) 23:22, 14 July 2012 (UTC) 23:39, 14 July 2012 (UTC) 02:50, 15 July 2012 (UTC) 17:00, 16 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect or possibly Merge I don't see signs that CRUSY meets our WP:GNG, and would therefore encourage a redirect or a merge. My instinct is to suggest a redirect, as I feel the detailed listing there is perhaps goes into more detail than warranted, but I'm unfamiliar enough with the topic that I don't have a strong concern either way. I wouldn't suggest pure deletion, a redirect here would be harmless, and redirects are cheap. I wouldn't keep, though. --j⚛e deckertalk 23:28, 16 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'm with you on the redirect. --76.189.98.15 (talk) 04:01, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Redirected --76.189.110.167 (talk) 22:06, 18 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect confirmed and maintained in regards to CRUSY being a region and not deserving of any higher status The Tallest Tower (talk) 02:14, 6 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

In regards to Judaism (Not Israel), the article has been upped to B-level status as the quality of the article, sources, and references have all been well maintained and contain adequate information. The Tallest Tower (talk) 02:16, 6 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Removed alumni and past conventions[edit]

I removed the list of past conventions and the list of alumni, as these were unsourced and would be more appropriate to a directory than an article. The last versions prior to my removal are in this version of the page. Freelance-frank (talk) 18:02, 8 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
