Schadenfreude[edit]

How about incorporating some failed gimmics. I am thinking mainly product gimmicks here... for example, the keymatic system introduced by hoover mentioned in the article on washing machines. Or the barcode reader on panasonic video recorders for setting the timer (before VideoPlus)

This Gimmick article has yet to be categorized. What category should it be placed under?

Casa Sanchez[edit]

Given that the restaurant got national press coverage and decided to resume the tattoo offer in 2010, it might be a bit strong to say that this gimmick "failed". --McGeddon (talk) 09:36, 4 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

OK. I had planned to include a sub-section on successful gimmicks, but for a variety of reasons, decided against that. If you want to do something along those lines, and include Casa Sanchez there, that would be great. I was invited to see what could be done to save this article from possible deletion. McGeddon Re: Casa Sanchez Foods versus Casa Sanchez tacqueria. The article clearly states that the tacqueria was a family-owned business and does not mention Casa Sanchez Foods. If you have local knowledge about the restaurant being part of a large chain or conglomerate, fair enough. But I am not American and am not in possession of this type of local knowledge, so I can only work from the article itself. In addition, it may have been important to an understanding the scale of the potential losses to appreciate that it was a family business. All things considered, and given that the promotion apparently generated a lot of media coverage, I think it is probably best to move this case out of failed gimmicks and create a new section for 'successful gimmicks'. The logo of Casa Sanchez Foods is the "boy in a sombrero riding an ear of corn" described in the article and sources here, and it describes itself as a family-run business. --McGeddon (talk) 09:32, 14 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
