Tallest[edit]

Does anybody know which is the tallest building. Some places mention Shreepati Aracade, some mention MVDRC World Trade center in Mumbai. Also anyone knows the completion time frame of S D Towers? Alren 23:01, 9 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Referenced from the Bombay Times. Where's SD towers? Nichalp 20:39, Mar 23, 2005 (UTC)
SD Towers
[1] shows WTC as tallest with 156m. Wheras [2] shows Shreepati at 161
Alren 00:29, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)
I'm not sure which is right. I'd stick with the Bombay Times as they are an established organisation. I think (not 100% sure) construction work on the SD towers is halted due to a Stay Order by the Bombay HC. Nichalp 20:01, Mar 24, 2005 (UTC)
Can we have 2 separate sections on this page
Section 1 will have complete and existing structure as well as structures nearing completion
Section 2 will have approved and proposed structures —Preceding unsigned comment added by BostonPunekar (talkcontribs) 17:39, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

your removal of Palais royale at list of tallest buildings in India[edit]

The below is a discussion posted on my talk page and posted here so other editors can contribute to the discussion. Robynthehode (talk) 06:48, 2 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, In your last edit to List of tallest buildings in India you removed Palais Royale Mumbai from the list and the reason you gave was that its neither complete or architecturally topped out and that true but the building has structurally topped, it had structurally topped out back in 2018. According to Skyscraper Center Palais Royale is on hold but that is not the case construction is going on in full swing i can see it with my own eyes in fact the full building is lit up at night and the cranes are also lit up at night and construction is clearly going on. Anyone who lives in Mumbai can see that. CTBUH takes a lot of time to update its databases many buildings like 360 west, oberoi sky city etc are already complete and fully occupied but according to CTBUH they are still under construction, Palais Royale is no different the building has structurally topped out and is under construction so i'm restoring the page to the earlier version.Joy goel (talk) 15:59, 1 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

CTBUH says it is on hold. Unless you can provide another reliable source to say otherwise it should remain out of the list. You seeing the building being worked on is irrevelant. That is WP:OR and is not allowed in Wikipedia. Please take any discussion of this to the article talk page - the proper place for content discussion - so other editors can contribute. But please do not revert my edit without that discussion. Thanks Robynthehode (talk) 19:38, 1 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please have a look at these articles http://www.ahmedabadbusinesspages.com/palais-royale-worli-tallest-residential-tower-mumbai/ and https://www.justbaazaar.com/listing/palais-royale-mumbai-tallest-structure-of-india/

As i said in the earlier message CTBUH takes a lot of time to update their databases it does not reflect the correct information.

Joy goel First please learn how to format talk pages correctly. Second always sign all your posts. Third neither of those sources are reliable sources. They are just commercial business page sites. Certainly not reliable for information about buildings. Robynthehode (talk) 20:31, 1 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

But that's the reality Palais royale has structurally topped out and under construction i can show you a thousand pages like those, Ctbuh takes very long to update it's database I think we should put up correct information on Wikipedia in this case CTBUH is definitely not correct. Joy goel (talk) 20:40, 1 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You haven't shown it is structurally topped out supported by reliable sources. Please don't change this without those reliable sources and consensus from other editors. I have copied this discussion to the article talk page because as I said such discussions should be on the article talk page not my personal one. Robynthehode (talk) 06:45, 2 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Robynthehode I have provided multiple sources that say that palais royale has structurally topped out and here's another one https://www.slideshare.net/saumitrasmart/tall-buildings-case-studies Please read case study number 125 onwards it clearly says that palais royale has structurally topped out, the two previous sources that I had given were from establishments based in Mumbai don't you think they would know more about the tallest building in the city than any other website? Joy goel (talk) 07:37, 2 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
None of your sources are reliable compared to CTBUH. Please read WP:RS. It may very well be the case that the building is now structurally topped out but Wikipedia is based on reliable sources. You may also like to read WP:TRUTH Robynthehode (talk) 20:53, 2 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with removal of Palais Royale as it is not architecturally topped out (nor even under construction), it belongs to the on-hold section (where it used to be with note). Note that the reason for the inclusion of architecturally topped out buildings to the main list is that they are in the final stage of construction and will be completed soon. This is not the case Palais Royale, which has been abandoned for years. It's not a building, it's just an empty concrete shell.--Jklamo (talk) 11:14, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I just found out that the main list definition has also been secretly changed (from architecturally topped out to topped out). Changing the definition to include a "favourite" item is also extremely inappropriate. Jklamo (talk) 11:34, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Express Towers missing in the Timeline[edit]

In the "Timeline of Tallest Buildings in India" section of this article, I see Express Towers is missing, which I feel should appear between Usha Kiran Building and World Trade Center Mumbai. Express Towers was built in 1972 and remained the tallest in the country (in fact, tallest in South Asia) for two years. This means that the Usha Kiran must have remained the tallest until 1972 (not until 1970) and that the WTC Mumbai must have been built in 1974 (not 1970). @Joy goel: What is your thought?

@Rasnaboy: Apologies for the late reply, i see you pinged me but I didn't receive a notification. I'll be adding the Express Towers to the list shortly.Thanks. Joy goel (talk ) 19 June 2023 (UTC)

Removal of Images of Major cities[edit]

@Chronus Can i ask you why did you remove So many images of Major and important indian cites all these cities are covered in the article so its necessary to have an image of each city. Joy goel (talk) 15:26, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Joy goel Simple: the images are unnecessary, they do not fit the layout of the article, and they were pushing the high-rise table. Any more questions? Chronus (talk) 15:28, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Chronus I'm adding some images back to the page because its Looks quite silly that smaller cities like hyderabad and pune have images but the bigger megacities like kolkata and delhi don't have any images. Joy goel (talk) 15:32, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Joy goel I removed all images. Just the picture of Mumbai, the biggest city in the country, is enough. Chronus (talk) 15:34, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Chronus I'm changing the image of Mumbai to a more impressive looking and upto date image but you left the image of Bangalore there why is that? Joy goel (talk) 15:37, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Joy goel I just forgot to take it off. Now I removed the image. Chronus (talk) 15:49, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Joy goel You aren't supposed to remove illustrative images "Mumbai is the biggest city" isn't a justification. As English Wikipedia guidelines put it, “The purpose of an image is to increase reader understanding of the article's subject matter, usually by directly depicting people, things, activities, and concepts described in the article.” So I have added Skyline images but fewer in number and you are not allowed to change it 25Aric (talk) 03:39, 28 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@25Aric Please try to understand I was not the one to remove the images, actually I was the one who had added all the images to the page, this person by the name 'Chronus' removed all the images i tried to add them back but he's saying that the images were unnecessary and do not fit the layout of the article. Joy goel (talk) 09:45, 28 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Joy goel Oh! I am very sorry, I actually meant to mention @Chronus but ended up misclicking. I apologize for the error... 25Aric (talk) 17:51, 28 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@25Aric The article already has enough images to illustrate the topic addressed. Please read WP:MOS. Finally, who do you think you are to "allow" or "not allow" me to edit any article? Chronus (talk) 18:06, 28 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@ChronusWho are you to remove images? This is what creates interests in users. If you are going to continue with this mischief, I am sorry to report you 25Aric (talk) 04:27, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, so time to end the arguement. So, the only thing I agree with @Chronus is that he removed some unneccessary images of cities which were illustrating high-rises like Gurgaon. Now, I have decided to intalll the images which only contain Skyscraper like Kolkata, Bangalore and Mumbai. @Joy goel I guess you could change Kolkata's Skyline image but Mumbai and Bangalore's images are to be retained as they clearly demarcate the tallest building and skyscrapers respectively. @Chronus I am sorry, if you were offended because I sensed your outrage from the above reply. 25Aric (talk) 04:40, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@25Aric Continue to use that disrespectful tone that goes against the most basic principles of our civility standards and you will be reported. Be warned. Chronus (talk) 17:08, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Chronus It isn't disrespectful if you actually check into what you did. You are the one who is goi ng aginst one of the basic rules of illustration and interest. So don't lecture me with nonsense. I won't be reported because unlike you I haven't done anything which hampers articles. Hope you understand and maintain decorum. 25Aric (talk) 17:39, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@25Aric: I didn't do anything wrong. On the contrary, I just removed useless images as you yourself admitted above. And you have no power or authority to "allow" anyone to edit any article in this encyclopedia. Hope you are aware of this. Control yourself in your next messages. And please read WP:MOS before you feel ready to edit. Chronus (talk) 17:42, 29 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Chronus Where am I telling that youa aaren't allowed to edit articles. I am well aware that I am no one to stop anyone from editijng articles but I do have the right to "stop people from editing stuff which are aginst the interests of the topic". Hope you understand your responsibility as an editor, comrade. I feel you need to understand everything in the page you mentioned before actually "lecturing that to me". It is very well explained by wikipedia and you as an editor are not allowed to harm articles 25Aric (talk) 03:31, 30 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@25Aric Do you even remember what you write? In the comment above you said: " So I have added Skyline images but fewer in number and you are not allowed to change it". And I didn't "harm" any article. I just removed excessive and useless images, as you yourself admitted above. I will not tolerate further attacks. Chronus (talk) 14:57, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Chronus That's what I need to ask to you isn't it? You just removed every image except that of Mumbai so doesn't that harm the article? You didn't remove only useless images and that's the only good thing you have done to the article. It's me who has been tolerating to your nonsense for days now. You are just continuing this thread for no reason. I don't wnat to receive a reply any further. Thank you 25Aric (talk) 12:22, 1 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
