Request for Assistance at the AMA[edit]

Good evening, my name is Wally and I'm from the Wikipedia Association of Members' Advocates. I'm writing at the moment to inform you of two happenings in which you are involved, and to which you should be informed: first, that an apparent dispute between yourself and User:Stirling Newberry on the gold standard and supply-side economics pages has been referred to mediation by said user. The second is that the user has requested representation from the AMA (a role I am not at this time fulfilling, only conducting preliminary inquiries). Said requests are here: Mediation Request and here: Representation Request.

This does not, by any measure, mean that you're in trouble with the community, that you are about to be punished for something, nor that the AMA is a team of bloodthirsty lawyers out to get you. What it simply means is that this user has found your dispute irreconcilible amongst yourselves and has requested assistance in doing so. You have the right to decline mediators' intervention, if you so choose, but if you do the dispute may be referred for arbitration, which is involuntary. You also have the right to accept or decline any proposed settlements or parts thereof proferred by a mediator, though it is in your interest to be as accomodating as possible and to provide explicit and defensible criteria should you decline such a settlement.

You additionally have the right to seek AMA representation of your own, and though it is not required many people feel it beneficial to do so, if only to have a cooler head on their side of the divide, especially should the dispute come to arbitration. Should you seek representation, you have the right to dismiss them at will, as they have the right to resign at will, though if an AMA member takes a case they will almost always see it to the end, and if they do not it is usually due to a matter uninvolved with the case (real world problems, etc.) Your AMA adviser can function as just such, offering you guidance on your case and position, or can function as an representative and lawyer, presenting your case to the mediator and/or arbitration committee.

You will likely be contacted further before long, by the appropriate mediator, myself, or another AMA member. You can ask us any questions you would like answered regarding this process. Queries right now may be addressed to the AMA assistance request page - follow the requisite links on the AMA page offered above - or to my talk page, and I will be glad to answer. Further information on representation is available at the AMA link; further information on mediation at the link to Stirling Newberry's request; and further information on arbitration at Wikipedia:Arbitration policy. It should be noted that arbitration is at the discretion of the committee itself, unlike mediation in which all cases are accepted, and may or may not be heard or judged, at their discretion.

Definition of money[edit]

Hi, I see you've changed my mods on the page Money. Particularly I've seen you moved the Bernard Lietaer definition of money to a new created chapter about quotes. I disagree with your decision. I think that Bernard Lietaer defines very good the idea of money (an agreement within a community to use something as a medium of exchange)and I think that definition is better than the actual one. It's' not a simple quote! :)

Mediation will be considered over if neither of you responds[edit]

Two weeks ago I created a topic (thread) on the mediation message board to begin mediation between you and User:Stirling Newberry and neither of you has left a message there or responded in any other way. If there is no movement on this request within 72 hours of this time [19:07, 8 Sep 2004 (UTC)] the Mediation Committee will consider the case officially closed.

Article Licensing[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Concept of money, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Importance). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree, discuss the issues raised at Talk:Concept of money. Thanks for uploading Image:Value of british pound in goldgrams 1900-1930.GIF. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you.

Since this is image is your work, tagging it with {{GFDL-self}} should do the trick.

If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

I notice that this category you created is unpopulated (empty). In other words, no Wikipedia pages belong to it. If it remains unpopulated for four days, it may be deleted, without discussion, in accordance with Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#C1. I'm notifying you in case you wish to (re-)populate it by adding [[Category:Climate scientists]] to articles/subcategories that belong in it.

I blanked the category page. This will not, in itself, cause the category to be deleted. It serves to document (in the page history) that the category was empty at the time of blanking and also to alert other watchers that the category is in jeopardy. You are welcome to revert the blanking if you wish. However, doing so will not prevent deletion if the category remains empty.
