Merge[edit]

  • I don't think the article should be merged with Jean-Claude Killy. The concern is that the Hunter S. Thompson article on Killy is not influential enough to merit a whole wikipedia article. I would agree if this were a normal encyclopedia, but given the greater scope of wikipedia and its precedent for effectively and efficiently cataloging less important topics (e.g., hairstyles, soundtrack tracklistings, etc.), I say this article definitely merits existence. The Thompson article The Temptations of Jean-Claude Killy is only partly about Killy, as this wikipedia entry details, and very much about American advertising, sports, and Thompson's own personality and unique journalistic style. Therefore, I don't think it makes sense to merge it with Jean-Claude Killy, since its writing wasn't a major part of his life, but rather to keep it as it is, since the article is a significant part of Thompson's early work and a salient example of early gonzo journalism. --Tarnas 05:01, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Might be better to note your objections on the VFD page instead of here, just to get it on the record.Logan 5 28 June 2005 16:32 (UTC)
  • The VFD page says it's no longer live and I should use this talk page for further comments. Is it normal to add stuff like this to an archival page? --Tarnas 28 June 2005 19:11 (UTC)

I agree that this article shouldn't be merged into the article of Jean Claude Killy. This article represents 1 or 2 years of his life. Also, I think it's overlooked in this article that there's no mention of the Chicago Auto Show. Certainly a few words can mention this. V Schauf (talk) 09:38, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
