Centenarian controversy in Japan[edit]

The section is missing information about efforts by the Japanese authorities to validate information. Here's a small sample:

Centenarians and Super centenarians in Literature[edit]

Should this article include a link for Lazarus Long, Little Big Man (novel) or The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared? Pentaclebreaker (talk) 15:10, 13 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Media references[edit]

Doesn't many centenarians receive a larger amount of media references once they turned 100. I don't think we need to list specific examples of them as there are simply thousands out there, and I'm sure there is a Wikipedia policy available regarding those kind of lists. Should they be removed. Meinnaples (talk) 15:18, 6 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

photos[edit]

This article has a random assembly of photos of famous people who turned 100 - some of the pictures even show the people before they turned 100. They include singers and actors and others ("futurist") who are well known but not earth-shakingly famous, or perhaps not any more.

There are too many famous people around the world who reached 100 to show pictures of them all, so we need some reason for showing pictures of certain people and not others - aside from "wikipedia has a picture of him/her". For example, showing the Queen Mother or the former Cambodian prime minister makes sense, but why Olivia DeHaviland at age 92? - DavidWBrooks (talk) 01:53, 16 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The photos used should be of centenarians who are 100 or older at the time of the photo. I suspect such free photos are relatively rare. This should take prominence over showing particularly notable persons. --LukeSurl t c 11:29, 12 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Portraits of people[edit]

This article has long had editorial disagreement about which pictures of which people should be included. I have been bold (OK, maybe too bold) and removed them all, since there's no objective measure of why one person-over-100 should be shown and another one shouldn't. Thoughts? - DavidWBrooks (talk) 19:26, 22 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support: I suspect most have an idea what a centenarian looks like. I agree with the removal of all images. Jim1138 (talk) 21:59, 22 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Centegenarian[edit]

main image looks bad[edit]

can barely see it on a normal laptop screen. and it's mostly a photo of empty space, with some pictures of old people in the distance at an angle from the camera anyway. any better pictures? I'm just going to remove the image. JM (talk) 22:48, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
