Hi Newt, when creating pages which are alternate spellings of page names (i.e. "Arabs for israel" as the same thing as "Arabs for Israel"), please use a redirect. To see an example of how to do this, look at what I did for Arabs for israel (this link will not redirect, but if you typed it into the search box, it would). This makes it so we don't have duplicate content all over the place, and so if we want to change the content of an article, we only have to change it once (rather than on two articles, for example). Just a tip, welcome to Wikipedia! --Fastfission 02:38, 4 Nov 2004 (UTC)

It's okay to have a lowercase article title which redirects to an uppercase one, it happens all of the time, I wouldn't worry about it. --Fastfission 17:10, 4 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Welcome! Just to let you know what you're dealing with here, see Wikipedia talk:Requests for comment/Alberuni and Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/Israeli violence against Palestinian children. Hope the first experiences won't scare you away, as most people here are friendly and helpful and collaboration is fun. Humus sapiensTalk 10:40, 4 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Sorry, looks like I wasn't around enough to comment on time. Newt 19:57, 15 Nov 2004 (UTC)

I'm considering putting Muslims for Israel up for VfD on grounds of unverifiability and non-notability (see talk, edits.) Any thoughts? - Mustafaa 19:29, 5 Nov 2004 (UTC)

Never mind - Ed's already deleted it. - Mustafaa 20:40, 5 Nov 2004 (UTC)
ok, well I think there's more to the organization than you think, but I'm heading out of town for several days and will have to address it when I get back. Thanks. Newt 21:48, 5 Nov 2004 (UTC)

I also recast Arabs for Israel as Nonie Darwish. Please don't be mad. This sort of thing is standard procedure around here. And welcome to Wikipedia! --user:Ed Poor (deep or sour) 15:16, Nov 8, 2004 (UTC)

Well, I have to say I'm pretty surprised by what my article evolved into. It's now unrecognizable from my original, and written completely POV from the perspective of someone who sounds really scared to admit there might be some pro-Israel Arabs out there. It's actually not antithetical to be both pro-Palestinian AND pro-Israel, and there do exist groups that have a more positive approach. However, at this point, it's probably a waste of time for me to exert a lot of effort here, the place has been hijacked by zealots only interested in Israel-bashing and filtering out alternative Arab perspectives. Request for Usurpation[edit]

Hello, Newt. A request has been made at Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations to usurp, or "take over", your username because you have not used it to edit, and another user would like to use it to edit. Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations says that any unused username may be usurped if the user is given seven days notice to object and does not do so.

If you have an email set in your preferences, you should be getting an email from a bureaucrat or changing username clerk explaining how to consent or object to this process.

If you do not object to being renamed to a new username in order for another user to utilize the name you currently have, please log in and post a reply here saying so (you may also tell us what username you would like to be renamed to, or we will provide you with a generic one).

If you do nothing: the request will be filled after seven days, and your account will be moved to a generic username. You may request that it be moved to a new username of your choice at any time.

If you object to being renamed: please log in and make an edit. You may make an edit here saying "No", you may make an edit to blank this page, or any other edit you like; making any edit at all prevents your username from being usurped, because users with edits cannot have their usernames usurped.

Please note that even if your current username is usurped, you can still edit and your data will not be lost; your preferences, watchlist, and other user settings will be transferred to a new username.

Thank you for your time. Newtttt (talk) 06:08, 28 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
