Wondering how to edit this U.S. City Entry?
The WikiProject U.S. Cities standards might help.

Someone is cleansing this site of truthful information regarding the City of Fortuna. I added factual and fully cited information regarding the very conservative nature of this city's dominant political culture, and someone completely deleted it. Deleting information that is truthful but that may not cast a rosy light is censorship, and is not in the spirit of Wikipedia. Someone should do something about this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.111.26.233 (talk) 03:56, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Axes to grind, Points of View (POV) issues, and grandstanding are not part of an encyclopedia. The citation to the previously removed commentary most certainly did not support any of the tone and much of the content of the material that had been added. That is precisely why it was removed. Neutrality of "Culture" section[edit]

Much of the "Culture" section appears to be written by a party with an interest in promoting the town. While talking about some of the festivals is just fine, the light in which they're presented seems to have been taken right out of a travel brochure. Adding day-to-day cultural information would help this section, as would cleaning up the somewhat-biased tone.

Added a flag to reflect this.

  • Re-wrote the section today to remove the non-neutral point of view. I was not the original writer. Please sign your posts with four Tildes so we know how to get ahold of you !! Ellin Beltz (talk) 17:45, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nicknames need citations too![edit]

Reverted an edit today that put an unknown nickname on the mainpage. I searched and was unable to find any uses of "Jewel of the North Coast" for Fortuna, in fact, that's Mendocino. "If you have more than one day to ride I guarantee you'll enjoy a stopover in Mendocino , "the Jewel of the North Coast." The sea surrounds Mendocino on three sides and the fourth is walled with dense pines. If you don't see it from a distance, you could ride by without even realizing what treasure lies near."[1] Verifiable and cited information only for the project please folks.
