Okay, I can't help but think that the line "DuPage also plays host to a rich local music scene. Some of the better-known bands to come out of the area include Material Issue, Lucky Boys Confusion, Spitalfield, and 15 Minutes Late." doesn't really belong in this article, but I can't think of where it would go. --Rob 21:17, 5 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

An anonymous user added it, and I found it questionable too, mostly because I was unaware of any thriving DuPage music scene. I added Material Issue because they are more famous than the 3 bands originally added. I've never heard of Material Issue or 15 Minutes Late, but Spitalfield and Lucky Boys Confusion are both medium-known. Lucky Boys Confusion were on the Craig Kilborn Show at one point, and Spitalfield has gotten some play on MTV2. I know DuPage has a pretty supportive local music scene. There's a message board light blue extra dot com that has a lot of info about the DuPage/Chicago music scene.

Wikipedia is not a billboard for budding Garage bands[edit]

I have to admit that I my not familiar with the "band scene, but most of these bands listed appear to just Garage band and not appear notable enough to merit inclusion to this entry. There appears to be very limited citations and this does not justifies notability. In all fairness this section should be removed.JoeBonham 03:56, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, yes you're right. It is New Sutton Road for a stretch. One of many names it takes such as Hough, Hawthorne and Rand. Where I drive, 59 and Sutton are parallel.

Chicago[edit]

Where the article talks about a small part of O'Hare that is in Chicago also being in Dupage has a link to a Maqquest map that doesn't say anything. We need to find a citeable reference for this.

The page itself should include these links, not just to satisfy me on the talk pages. The map definitely shows part of the airport in Dupage county. Do we know for sure that the entire airport is inside Chicago? The Encyclopedia of Chicago also is clear that Chicago bought Dupage land, but it's silent about the possibility that this land automatically becomes dupage when it's in CHicago. The map would seem to say not which means these two links together are pretty clear evidence. Tedernst 08:41, 21 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Unincorporated areas[edit]

It would probably be a good idea to mention some of the unincorporated areas of DuPage county as there used to be quite a few.

I don't know that Neatpete86's reference provides evidence for his claim. Much of the whitespace in the image is taken by Fermilab, Argonne Labs, and forest preserves. I believe that FermiLab is part of Batavia, Illinois, but don't know about the municipal status of the other areas. — goethean ॐ 17:52, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Largest city[edit]

Democratic Gerrymandering[edit]

Having done some research for those 5 districts I noticed just how painstakingly the Democrats gerrymandered all of these districts, in a good year they could possibly win the 2 which were the hardest to gerrymander, while they've packed more wealthy conservative areas in east DuPage from Bensenville to Hinsdale into this monstrosity of a district (District 5) that reaches all the way to central Chicago and its ultra-liberal vote, why should they be in the same district? They are miles apart, how are those constituents' needs represented in congress?

They've packed as many larger suburbs like Aurora, Naperville and Joliet into Bill Foster's 11th District as possible to diffuse the more compact, conservative district that should sit there, creating a safe district (PVI - D+8), that isn't too safe, thus wasting votes.

And what's the purpose of that weird spike coming out of the 8th District? Could there be a pack of minority voters there that cause this district to go from risky to safe? (PVI - D+8)

If I were the Republican feller in the sixth district (who's from my old hometown) I'd watch out come redistricting in 2022.

Largest city in DuPage[edit]

Naperville has the largest population in DuPage County. Although Aurora has a larger population than Naperville, I think we should count only the population that resides in DuPage. Thoughts? Edge3 (talk) 17:04, 13 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I just wanted to point out that Aurora is not the largest city with territory in DuPage County. The City of Chicago also has territory in DuPage County. O'Hare Airport occupies some land in the county, but there are no Chicago residents living in DuPage. If we argue that Aurora's population must be considered, then so too must Chicago's. But it would not be logical to conclude that Chicago is the largest city in DuPage, simply because part of Chicago is in DuPage. Orphaned references in DuPage County, Illinois[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of DuPage County, Illinois's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Taxes and property values section[edit]

I would strongly suggest that the "Taxes and property values" section of the Dupage County article gets a major rewrite, or even removed. The cited "news article" used for most of this section isn't really a news article, it's more of an unsigned opinion piece by known political operative/radio host Dan Proft. Proft has created numerous "news services" for communities across the Chicago metro area, which are not without controversy[1][2]. It's quite difficult to find any information about who is even writing these articles. Articles without well-cited sources and without an indicated author name should be held to a higher level of scrutiny. It almost seems as if a particular political slant was inserted into this article to drive traffic to the politcal "news" outlets. It should also be noted that numerous copy-cat articles can be found on these sites for communities throughout the area. Thus, I wouldn't be surprised if we find similar information pasted to wiki pages for other counties and cities in the area.

Of particular note, the statistics on property values seems very one-sided and misleading, completely leaving out a major economic incident that is at least a major contributing factor to property value decreases over the indicated time frame. The information on how the indicated statistics were calculated is very limited, and it is near impossible to replicate the methodology. One attempt to replicate was made by real estate blogger Kyle Johansen [3] yielded different, if not opposite, results.
