Benton County history[edit]

The article on Benton County is good. But the historical section speaks about its creation of boundries, the county seat, and then all of a sudden jumps into a discussion of gay marriage!

IMHO this doesn't not belong in the current part of the historical section, but should be placed under a separate heading. Perhaps something similar to what the Multnomah County article does by using a heading of "Since 2000" and then states current gay marriage history etc.

Hi John, thanks for bringing this up here instead of blanking the section again. Next time, please bring up your concerns on the talk page first. Blanking without explanation often comes across as POV vandalism. I understand your concern about the time jump. Many city and county articles jump from the founding of the community to the 21st century without any intervening history. (This is one of the systemic biases of Wikipedia.) The solution for this is to make a subheading, and also to add content! Surely something happened in Benton County between 1862 and 2004! If something like this comes up again, you can go ahead and make a subheading yourself, or ask for help. I'll make the change to the article, see what you think. incorporated/ non incorporated[edit]

You mention North Albany as both incorperated and non incorperated just thought you might want to check to see which one it is. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fitzgerw (talkcontribs) 19:23, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good catch. According to this map: ftp://gis.cityofalbany.net/GIS/Albany/PDF/zoning.pdf, North Albany is within the city limits of Albany, thus incorporated. North Albany was once a separate community, so if there is interest in writing an article about it, it should go at North Albany, Albany, Oregon, to show it is a neighborhood of Albany. Then North Albany, Oregon can redirect there. Thanks! Katr67 22:04, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Correction[edit]

The link to the Treaty of Dayton points to not the 1855 treaty, but the Dayton Accords of 1998. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.210.3.209 (talk) 15:01, 14 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
