Battle[edit]

I'm afraid I've never heard it called anything similar to photoshop battles, as such I'd have to vote against this for now. If you can find a primary reference along a similar vein to those currently listed, however, the inclusion of such a phrase would be acceptable. Additionally, although common online use does not make a phrase notable, it certainly in my opinion makes it worthy of a redirect and/or mention on another page. We called them "Photoshop Battles" back on Dreamless.org (this was around 2000–2001), in referrence to the DJ or MC "battles" of the hip-hop world. Also, there's over 15,000 results for "photoshop battle" on Google, and they all refer to the same practice as "Photoshop tennis." And a curious thought - I wonder what the main country of origin of the websites and communities that use these terms are? It wouldn't surprise me if more American orientated communities tended to prefer the 'battles' variant - calling a civil contest 'tennis' (or 'cricket') is quite the britishism (this is not intended to imply any bias by country, indeed would be an interesting point for the article is we can verify my suspicions somehow) LinaMishima 01:09, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There's nothing at all notable about this topic that isn't already said on Photoshop contest, so redirect is the way to go. Please don't redirect the page again without further discussion: I think that Photoshop Tennis is notable enough, having seen it in many places across the internet. A Google search of "photoshop tennis" "Photoshop Tennis" "Photoshop tennis" -wikipedia gives 149,000 hits, and its nature is notedly different from a photoshop contest. In a Photoshop contest, submissions are parallel by many, while in Photoshop tennis, submissions are in series by few to two, and are usually of a different nature - contests seek merely entries within a certain theme, while tennis seeks serial modification for artistic or humorous means. Can you see what I mean in terms of their difference? I will again revert the page to its former status, please allow it to remain as such until we reach some consensus. it appears to be quite separate to photoshop contest, so what is the disagreement about. I don't think this article should be deleted. The difference between Pcontest and Ptennis is that Pcontest gets users to edit a photo usually for a competition. Ptennis is when a picture is incrementally modified by alternating Photoshoppers....Nloob 08:39, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
