Then you have plenty to do! You just have to take care of those two and 95% of all the other articles that were listed on copyright violations. You are a sysop arent you? I guess you will find them all in the page history of the copyvio page, which is not deleted everytime that a article is cleared. Majority

2 things. Without accurate survey information, it is improper to bandy about the term "majority". IMO the majority WORLD population is intensely racist. Thats my experience, esp. with non-americans. I can give you evidence of it if you like, this may be a good starting point. The 2nd thing is that majority viewpoint doesn't make anything true, or right. When it is one individual against many (be they 3 or 20) it is one against the majority, IMO. I will bandy it about at my pleasure as I'm sure you will with your opinion. As long as Wikipedia resembles a democratic republic those in the majority (even if only by one) will be those you must convince. You appear not to be understanding me, and I wish I could help you, but that would clearly involve a massive amount of repitition of the above abvious facts (majority opinion does not = truth, opinion in general does not = truth, you and a couple of random wikis who care to vote w you do not constitute anything romotely similar to a majority opinion, if one was of any great importance). Newcomb's problem

Re: the copyvio notice on Newcomb's problem, I'm more than a little confused. Yes, the content was a copyvio of the slate.com article. But we already had an article on the same topic which was not a copyvio - Newcomb's paradox. What is the point of leaving it as a flagged copyvio for 7 days in this case? Why shouldn't I have just fixed it? If I am completely misunderstanding the copyvio resolution process, please educate me. Thanks. Rossami 23:32, 23 Mar 2004 (UTC)

We cannot retain copyright violations in page history (since they are still available to the internet in violation of the owner's copyright) so we must delete the article (to delete its history) and then we can create a redirect that has no violations in its history. - Texture 23:34, 23 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Follow-up question. With that rule about getting the copyvio out of the page history, how does the policy deal with a copyvio that is inserted into an otherwise good article with a long non-copyvio edit history? Does the deletion mechanism allow you to delete just parts of the history? Rossami

Not yet. This is why there is a strong effort to stop all work on an article that begins as a copyvio. A copyvio that is introduced partway through is still a problem until we can deleted individual pages in history - Texture 14:52, 24 Mar 2004 (UTC)

I didn't actually delete Wikipedia Revolution Movement either, not as such (though it may well have deserved worse than I gave it). Instead, I moved it to the appropriate user space: User:Japan/Wikipedia Revolution Movement. It's still there, unless someone else has deleted it. So what I deleted was just the redirect to it left over from the move page function. (No that any of this matters too much. At least I'm not fussed by it.) Help moving a page back

Hello, I'm looking for an administrator to help moving a page back to its original title. I first moved John Watson to John D. Watson because there was at least one other John Watson with mistaken links to the page and another that could be disambiguated. But after moving, I started in on updating pages that linked there to eliminate the redirect. I quickly realized that there were dozens of pages and that was more work than I wanted to do (especially with the system being slow for me today). So I want to move James D. Watson back to James Watson and simply and a note at the top of that page with links to the other Watsons. Please let me know if you can help with this or if I should try someone else. VFD

When you move items off vfd that have no consensus to delete, please copy the dicussion onto the article's talk page. This way, people don't renominate an article for deletion, or when it does get renominated, people can judge from previous comments. Cheers, Jiang 22:31, 4 Apr 2004 (UTC)

I was not aware of any policy the last time I deleted from VfD (March 31). Since then a policy is forming at Wikipedia_talk:Votes_for_deletion#What_to_do_with_the_mediawiki_pages_after_VfD. I will follow whatever policy is agreed upon. Until then I plan to add it to the talk page, remove it, then add a link to the talk page history so it can be found. VfD Hdg problem

Do you now understand it precisely? It's like what i call a (classic) "discord on parsing of illegal headings", and i assume it has nothing to do with the box, but rather with the inclusion. But i'm guessing.
