Reportedly the earliest polyhedral dice used in role-playing games were actually intended as classroom tools for exploring platonic solids or probability or something similar. Details would be interesting.

I have no idea what the early plastic used in polyhedral dice was. Later dice were almost uniformly referred to as "High Impact", so presumably the previous dice were "Low Impact." Of course, I suspect even High Impact is more of a description of the properties of the plastic than the technical name. The actual names/compositions of common die formulations would be interesting.

Images[edit]

The current image of blue polyhedral dice needs to be replaced with one which includes a d10. Also it may be good for it to be vertical rather than horizontal, to line up with the table. ··gracefool | 22:37, 20 Aug 2004 (UTC)

It would also be nice to have images of the more uncommon die types, such as the d7 or Zocchihedron; I've got no means of capturing an image, and couldn't find any PD photos to contribute. Anyone? --Rossumcapek 09:52, 22 Aug 2004 (UTC)
