Referring to: "If wikipedia decides to use the utility 'dvipng' instead of the awkward dvips->gs route, there is a '--bg Transparent' switch in dvipng that enables this. -- jalar 14:24, 5 Apr 2004 (UTC)" It doesn't make a real transparent background: it leaves white pixels, exactly like dvips + convert. You were using an outdated version of dvipng. Upgrade and try again jalar 18:58, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
