This article is WRONG. According to the Wikipedia page the river Shannon is 259km long whereas it is the estuary that is 113km long. According to the Wikipedia page on the River Severn, it is 354km long and the Thames is 346km long so the claim in this article that the Shannon is the longest river in Britain and Ireland is also wrong.

Unfortunately there is no way of editing this page to correct these mistakes.
