Wikimedia Canada[edit]

Hi there! I'd like to invite you to explore Wikimedia Canada, and create a list of people interested in forming a local chapter for our nation. A local chapter will help promote and improve the organization, within our great nation. We'd also like to encourage everyone to suggest projects for our national chapter to participate in. Hope to see you there! -- user:zanimum

ES21 is up for Anime Collaboration of the Week[edit]

The Eyeshield 21 main article is up for the Anime Collaboration of the Week. It seems that ES21 is the frontrunner and in the event of the article being the AnCOTW, either one of us will have to take ownership of the article during this time. --TcDohl 05:12, 9 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey man[edit]

"Well. This is rather interesting. We need some form of continuity. Half the DB pages refer to Funi names as alternate names. The other half consider them the actual names. I keep missing the votes, so I guess I'll be paying more attention to this talk page... If this page remains at Hercule, perhaps we should change Usagi Tsukino to Serena, Sakura Kinomoto to Sakura Avalon, and Doctor Tenma to Doctor Boynton. It's my opinion that if a work was released FIRST in another language, that the names of characters from the original language be the title of the articles. Do I make sense? I think so. Teh Shingen 12:28, 11 December 2006 (UTC)"

But here are the problems: 1. All English-language versions of Sailor Moon are now out of print anyway. 2. Sakura Kinomoto is known as Sakura Kinomoto in the English-language releases of the English manga 3. Doctor Tenma is known as such in the English-language versions of the manga AND the English-language release of the 2003 series 4. "It's my opinion that if a work was released FIRST in another language, that the names of characters from the original language be the title of the articles" - Would you rename Pokemon as Pocket Monsters? WhisperToMe 21:30, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes, that IS my opinion. Teh Shingen 00:09, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • To add.... That is my opinion but there is overwhelming released information to the contrary. Video games, comic books, lunchboxes. Thus, my opinion may be valid to me - but there would be a supermajority, hell, an almost unanimous opposition to such a move. So your example is an invalid one. Try not to use too many bad examples when you "rip up" my argument, k?

Wikipedia is celebrating its 15th birthday on January 15, 2016. I have thought for a while that it would be neat to meet some local wikipedians. According to the wikipedians in Winnipeg or Wikipedians in Manitoba category you are one of us. I am contacting people in this category to say: Let's celebrate this milestone. If you know other wikipedians, please ask them to join in as well.

I am posting this to your talk page as a transclude so that any updates will show up automatically.

Hope to see you there! Tenbergen (talk) 04:46, 22 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

One other Winnipeg Wikipedian showed up, in addition to a number of regular skullspace members. It was nice to actually talk to someone else who has worked with Mediawiki and actually "gets" transclusion. Cake was eaten! Tenbergen (talk) 06:37, 16 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Aw, apparently I haven't logged in to Wikipedia in over 6 years and I totally missed this message and the event! I guessed I missed any 20 year celebration, too. Let me know if you end up doing a 25 year one. :) Clayton Rumley (talk) 22:52, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
