Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(Redirected from Wikipedia:RPP)
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Current requests for increase in protection level

Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: The article is related to the Arab-Israeli conflict. Isi96 (talk) 04:06, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

There's been no vandalism or edit warring recently. This is not needed. TarnishedPathtalk 10:59, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The article has the contentious topics arbitration enforcement notice on its talk page, so page protection is needed even if no edit warring has occurred. Isi96 (talk) 19:18, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The CTOP notice (added by myself I think) is only because it is a related topic, not because it is directly about WP:ARBPIA. TarnishedPathtalk 02:54, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Daniel Case (talk) 03:58, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: Persistent addition of unsourced content/unsourced date changes. Waxworker (talk) 09:44, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of six months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Case (talk) 04:37, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Uttar Pradesh

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing – The page was stable until it was protected. But as soon as it got unprotected IP users are deliberately making disruptive changes. 25 CENTS VICTORIOUS 🍁 13:39, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirmed protected indefinitely. Daniel Case (talk) 04:42, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Kurdish coffee

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Persistent disruption. Semsûrî (talk) 15:30, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Bbb23 (talk) 00:53, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Semi-protected indefinitely. There's too much nationalistic editing that's been going on for too long in an article clearly within a contentious topic, so I'm logging this too. Daniel Case (talk) 04:50, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Webull

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent attempts by IPs to add WP:PROMO. Amigao (talk) 15:53, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of three days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Case (talk) 04:54, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Gupta–Hunnic Wars

Reason: Constant disruption in the page, and two editors are edit warring and removing cited sources. Jonharojjashi (talk) 17:37, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

False. Two editors are not edit warring (neither of us broke 3rr and we even reached a consensus). Rest can be seen in the talk section of the article; expecting the requester to make a comment for a consensus. Imperial[AFCND] 17:45, 3 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Daniel Case (talk) 04:55, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    UEFA Euro 2024 broadcasting rights

Reason: I need to ask a third time, beacuse, as expected, ipuser ignored my calls to take it to the page talk page, he had also ignored my post in his talk page asking to debate a conenseus, so i can safely assume that he purposely avoided any type of consensus talk, no matter what i tried.

There has no other way, this is the not the first time it happens, i am asking for semi-protection not as preventive measure, but as last resort agnaist the lack ot interest in make consensus and as a way to avoid a edit war that would make more harm than good. Meganinja202 (talk) 01:02, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Declined Did you try the IP's talk page? Doesn't look like it. No wonder they keep coming back. Daniel Case (talk) 04:58, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Isabella Pappas

Reason: High level of IP vandalism, an IP (not me, but a different IP) keeps removing the Nationality (British-Italian) from the Lede. In fact it's becoming very persistent, I suggest a a temporary protection for this page. 70.50.199.125 (talk) 01:13, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If we protect the page you won't be able to edit it either. Are you OK with that? Daniel Case (talk) 04:59, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Talmud

    Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – WP:ARPBIA. Filmssssssssssss (talk) 01:34, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected indefinitely. It definitely needs it, but I am not doing this under ARBPIA as that has not been anywhere near what the disruption has been about. Daniel Case (talk) 05:03, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Template:Evolution of Comcast NBCUniversal

Reason: IP hopper keeps bringing back bad information Vidpro23 (talk) 02:47, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected for a period of three months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Daniel Case (talk) 05:07, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Kundali Bhagya

Indefinite Extended semi-protection: IP users are doing several unconstructive edits from the time it got unprotected. Please semi-protect it for indefinite time with Extended confirmed users amd administrators access for edits.

Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
