Credit for comics creators[edit]

The archivist and creators' rights activist in me wishes that every comic-book illustration we put on Wikipedia could have the artist and source credited. Teen dating violence[edit]

I noticed that you had redirected "teen dating violence" to "dating abuse." I also noted that there was consensus with your actions but would ask that you please undo this change. While "dating abuse" is a term used by some groups, its use is in the minority. Below is some data supporting my claim.

United States (the U.S. leads the world in efforts to identify and prevent this problem and so the majority of the literature and research is necessarily skewed toward U.S.-based organizations)

Canada

U.K. (the U.K. launched their first national campaign this year on February 15, 2010 and are using "this is abuse" as their tagline (http://thisisabuse.direct.gov.uk/) but this should not be construed as adoption of the phrase for classification purposes)

Australia

Other

The reason it continues to happen is that dating violence happens to more people than just teens. It is clear from your edits that you are pushing an agenda and not interested in having this be a high quality, neutral article. I encourage you to read about what Wikipedia is and the purpose behind it. Copy & pasting bullet points from your organization's brochure is not acceptable on this website. Teen dating violence is just a small subset of overall dating violence, and your efforts on this site skew that reality by giving the impression that teen dating is somehow unusually violent or abhorrent or dangerous and that nothing dangerous occurs between adults. This is simply false and misleading. You should not take over neutral pages by pushing your own agenda. Once again, that is not the point of Wikipedia. I will once again revert your changes (as everyone else agrees should happen). Do not attempt to edit the page again or I will recommend that your IP be banned from Wikipedia. Thank you. Haha, you called me a dick? Haha, way to handle this maturely. No, "teen dating violence" is NOT a more appropriate term. Do you truly believe that individuals over 18 do not experience violence or abuse in their relationships? Whether I do or don't assume good faith regarding your intentions, the quality and tone of the dating abuse article you produced is entirely inconsistent with the accepted quality standards of Wikipedia. No, I did not call you a dick. WP:Dick is a commonly accepted tenet of Wikipedia (along with "assume good faith"). If you had read through my well-cited information (supra) you would see that the phrase "teen dating violence" is the nationally recognized phrase in the United States. Since 2006 the U.S. Congress has declared February to be "National Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month" (more specifically 2006 - 2009 the first week was "National Teen Dating Violence Awareness Week" and for 2010 the entire month of February was "National Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month."
In addition to U.S. references I supplied references from other English-speaking countries (Canada, Australia, and the U.K.) to show that although those countries have not been actively working with this problem for as long as the U.S., they still support this nomenclature.
I asked to understand your specific issue with this phrasing in order to supply you with the proper information. For example, if you are from a country other than the U.S. you might believe that the phrase is country-specific and I could then address that concern; if you instead believe that this issue simply doesn't exist then I could address that. Instead you assumed bad faith on my part and that has gotten us nowhere. Multiple times I have explained the issue with your term. Multiple times you have ignored my attempts to explain. "Teen dating violence" may be the recognized term to describe teen dating violence, but that is not all this page is about. This page is about dating abuse. Dating abuse occurs in teen relationships and adult relationships. I am frankly at a loss for words as to why I need to explain this so many times. "Teen dating violence" is too narrow a term to cover dating violence among both teens and adults and thus it is inappropriate to use. It would be acceptable to have, within the dating abuse page, a small sub-section about teen dating violence in particular, but to erase all mention of dating violence that occurs among adults is simply not-factual or reasonable. It is also inappropriate for teen dating violence to have its own page or for discussion of it to overshadow the treatment of dating violence or dating abuse overall. Just as it would be inappropriate to have a section or article about black dating violence and ignore the fact that dating violence occurs among couples of all races. It is inappropriate to ignore the fact that dating abuse is a reality among couples of all ages. I appreciate the clarification and have responded on the article's talk page but in summary: "Teen dating violence" is a professionally recognized subset of IPV. From a legislative perspective, the U.S. has officially recognized this distinction since at least 2006 and the U.K. began its own efforts earlier this year. These governments have distinguished "teen dating violence" from non-teenager dating violence because the issues with awareness and prevention are unique for this age group. I'll also add that "teen dating violence" was exactly what the article was about when it was written. It may not reflect that anymore but that's the result of merging with other articles. Introduction to contentious topics[edit]
