Not to be confused with Band geeks, a SpongeBob SquarePants episode article that was recently on VfD and was deleted

  • Delete. It seems to say no more than that a "band geek" is a schoolkid who's keen on playing in a band. There's no promise of anything more, either. So it's a dictionary entry; and it's not even an interesting one as (thanks to the recent popularity of "geek" to mean "enthusiast") its meaning could always be guessed from the context.   • Delete. Band geeks are an odd subculture, to be sure, but not strong enough to be notable. Most of the more common High school subcultures link to articles that are not specific to the high-school-age portion of their subculture (e.g. "ravers"), or a link to a disambiguation article (e.g. "jock"). --Idont havaname 01:46, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)
    • Not notable? The very fact that you and I and many others all over the USA recognize the thing makes it notable. Do 28,500 google hits for the term say something to you? Mikkalai 04:12, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Extremely strong keep. It has become a very interesting article and it is a word often used in high schools in the United States, particularly in the bands. I was in a high school band, so I have experience with this word. Also, band geeks should be redirected to this article. Academic Challenger 05:03, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Weak keep. There are articles on plethoras of other youth subcultures, so it would be inconsistent to exclude this one. It'll need work though, to make it something more than what you would find in the articles Band and Geek. Fishal 06:40, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep. Promising snapshot of a common microsocial identity. Would be of sufficient interest to a future social historian or a current hypothetical extraterrestrial anthropologist or sociologist studying Earth youth, music culture, etc. Samaritan 08:47, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)
