Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Creation according to Genesis/tempMinorityOpinionPage

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nominated by me since it is a rival page, (on which it is attempted to prohibit any contribution from certain editors to the original article, by the method of continued reverts). CheeseDreams 22:37, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)

  • Delete. Wikipedia cannot have competing pages. (I was just about to put a vfd header on this myself.) 22:49, Nov 10, 2004 (UTC)

      • Yes, that was me, sorry about that. RickK 21:12, Nov 11, 2004 (UTC)
    • This is a competitive version only for development--as was the Shroud of Turin/temp page. The Wikipedia community will decide which page should appear under the Creation according to Genesis title--after the /tempMinorityOpinionPage is completed so that they can compare it with the competition. :) ---Rednblu | Talk 23:05, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep. It is important that Wikipedia have means to develop good articles despite edit wars. Accordingly, this /tempMinorityOpinionPage was created in the spirit of the Shroud of Turin/temp page where the "minority opinion" editors, those editors who did not want to engage in the edit war on the ParentPage, could develop a competitive version so that then the Wikipedia community at large could decide which version best represented what a Featured Article should be. Similarly, this will be a temporary page only for purposes of developing a competitive page without edit wars. NPOV, clarity, and all other measures of Wikipedia quality will be guaranteed by the final vote of the Wikipedia community in selecting which competitive page should appear on the ParentPage at Creation according to Genesis. ---Rednblu | Talk 22:53, 10 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Neutral. I didn't know it was customary to have votes for deletion for subpages. Am I going to have to have a votes for deletion on my User:Hawstom/Chalkboard when I don't need it anymore? Use the page as a temporary workspace. If Cheese doesn't like it, maybe you could put it at User:Rednblu/temp1 or something less controversial while you work. Would that help? It is obvious to me that a quiet place for careful work is needed. Tom - Talk 21:41, Nov 11, 2004 (UTC)
That's your user page. Its up to you to do whatever you want on your user page (consistent with policy). CheeseDreams 22:02, 11 Nov 2004 (UTC)

  • Keep. Recommend moving to "user space" to satisfy complainant, but the complaint seems frivolous. The title is perhaps not the best, but I think that the editors there are not intending a long term "competing page", but to work up a neutral page without the pressure of edit wars. Note that a user looking for information is very unlikely to find this page, but will rather find the original page, as this page is only linked from "Talk" pages. Calling it a rival page is a distortion of the facts. Mpolo 14:11, Nov 12, 2004 (UTC)
  • Keep -- the only intent in having this page was to end the edit war while developing a truly NPOV page, and allow the community a vote as to which version should be presented. Ungtss 21:24, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)
To avert the edit war you should have actually responded to points raised on the talk page, rather than ignore them. CheeseDreams 22:20, 12 Nov 2004 (UTC)
