Bienvenido a Wikipedia, compatriota.

I fiddled some with your correction of R. Barros Luco; i wish there were not so many English monolinguals who fail to understand that there are other ways to describe one's ancestry than just our "Jim Johnson"s.

IMO the most effective approach to these is to have two entries: one for people who know what they're doing, and one for those who don't. I admit that the ones who don't may deserve to be punished for it, but i'd argue that the embarassment of finding a note that effectively says "... and by the way, you're looking in the wrong place, dummy" serves to punish and to inform at the same time.

I'm more than pleased to see corrections like yours, even when they kill the fools' entries, and consider having them pointed out adequate reward for the effort of recreating and annotating the old entry. I hope you'll regard me as a colleague carrying your work still further forward, rather than as a troublemaker messing up what you've done. [smile] --Jerzy(t) 08:02, 2004 Mar 16 (UTC)

Ah, i see you already have this idea and applied it to Garcia Márquez! And i like the way you did it better than mine. (I did something analogous with Thich Nhat Hanh, in List of people by name: Th#Thf - Thi, but these demand a little more imagination to apply the basic concept; thank you for turning on that light bulb in the "thought bubble" over my head.) --Jerzy(t) 08:21, 2004 Mar 16 (UTC)

  • We are in trouble: I liked your idea better than mine. "See x" is probably more polite, but "Correct filing is x" is more accurate, because you actually don't have to see x, because the link gets you directly where it's needed. Pablo.cl

Trouble of this kind is my middle name, and i say that if they can't take a little rude truth, they should go by themselves a damn Brittanica. [wink]

But, hey, they're neither your ideas nor mine; they're GFDL now! Yet another proof of the value of many eyeballs looking together. [smile] Tnx again. --Jerzy(t) 08:11, 2004 Mar 17 (UTC)

Pablo, if you're sure that Gascon has no official status in Spain, please correct the text in Spain#Demographics. It's the reason I included the language in my edit. Nathan 20:53, 17 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

My intent when I added Gascon and removed "etc." was to get rid of the mushiness of the original phrase. The Aranese language page of course tauts the officialness of the language within its region, which is — as far as Wikipedia can tell me — exactly the same status as Catalan, Basque, and Galician. The only difference is that the Val d'Aran is tiny. But on the Galician page, there is a claim that Spain has declared (no date) four official languages, with no dialects of Occitane included. If that were true, we could clean up the Spain page (and its overloaded infobox)! I would prefer a compromise that doesn't involve a Wiki-contradiction. Nathan 06:14, 18 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

Hola Pablo: I saw at wikibooks that you are interested in the catalan language. As you contributed to the english wikibook about learning catalan I think we could cooperate because I work on the [german wikibook for learning catalan], which should not be entirely different. Furthermore, the project I have started for learning, especially Spanish and French vocabulary, is described and discussed at my user page, if you are interested please let me know there. Spanish language[edit]

Hi, do you know of very many countries outside Spain where castellano is the term used by speakers of the language? I think the previous wording in Spanish language was not only more accurate, but also better grammar. I was waiting to fix Names_given_to_the_Spanish_language until I had better sources. If you do then that is fine, but let me know on the Spanish language talk page. Thanks - Taxman 14:36, Oct 13, 2004 (UTC)

I thought you might also be interested in voting for culture of Spain to be the collaboration of the week in order to help bring it from nowhere to a featured artcle. Thanks - Taxman 18:51, Oct 13, 2004 (UTC)

CSD[edit]

Heya, please note not all pages that need to be deleted should be speedy deleted. Ipsegensphobia for instance is not a candidate for speedy deletion: All valid reasons for speedy deletion can be found at WP:CSD, all other cases should be taken to Votes for deletion. --fvw* 03:34, 2005 Jan 7 (UTC)

Aisen Region[edit]

Hola Pablo, now we have one more variant for this Chilean region. ;-)

If you move take care not to create double redirects, thus fix all redirects to the old name of the page. redirects are ok, but double are not (my opinion ;-) http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Whatlinkshere&target=Ays%E9n_(region)

Estas de Chile?

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
