Paul of Tarsus[edit]

Item: Paul of Tarsus

Discuss on: Talk:Paul of Tarsus

Description: I rewrote this article to provide more biographical information, & offer a short description of Paul's theology. (Paul was described in the original article as "next to Jesus the most important figure in the development of Christianity" -- but with no explanation why.) Despite my work, I am not entirely satisfied, & would appreciate some feedback.

    • Overall, not bad, but it could use a lot of NPOVing, and conforming to standard wikipedia style. I suggest opening the article thusly (1st paragaph):
Paul of Tarsus (also known as Saul of Tarsus) or Saint Paul, the Apostle (c. 3 BCE - c. 66 BCE) was one of the founders of the Christian religion. One of its most prolific theologians, he is considered by many Christians to be the central figure in the development of the religion.
    • Then delete entire second paragraph and the "Life" section because it's too heavily weighed on biblical sources — the results is basically a synopsis of Acts. Instead go here: http://www.catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=91 for more information. BE CAREFUL not to just cut and paste, otherwise it's a copyright violation. Also note that this site is biased toward the Catholic version of his life, so be mindful of the NPOV.
    • Same problem with 'His Theology', which I would re-label "Pauline Theology": NPOV issues. Change "His Social Views..." to "Social Views. And really focus on making this article as neutral as possible -- imagine you're explaining St. Paul to someone with absolutely no prior knowledge of him, or Christianity. Good luck.
