This page should be integrated with cello. Why? *(1)

  1. Both are stubs which probably won't get too much bigger in the near future.
  2. This page goes against Wikipedia:Naming conventions. It should at least be moved to cellist.

I'll wait a bit to do this, since it seems like it's under construction at the moment. -- Merphant 11:38 Nov 15, 2002 (UTC)

I agree with you. There are quite a few paired articles like this (oboe/oboist, trombone/trombonist and so on) and I think there are basically two ways to deal with them:
    • Have just one page at oboe (or wherever) which includes a list of players of that instrument
    • Have one page at oboe and another at List of famous oboists
My feeling is that until the list of players gets long (half a dozen at the very least), everything should go on the one page. --Camembert 12:23 Nov 15, 2002 (UTC)

  • (1) I disagree with this User:David Martland as a cellist is definitely not a cello! I have introduced a number of instrument/player pairs today - I do agree with Camembert (see below) that if there are not very many players they could form part of an entry on the instrument concerned - but this depends rather on the instrument. I think that pianos, violins, and a few other instruments are sufficiently important to have their own pages. I could probably make a case for most of the other instruments too - given time.

I'm still feeling my way around here, and the working practices - DM.
