Although a key ring is essentially a very simple device, expanation of such is always difficult. A picture counts a lot. Indeed a picture of the alternate forms where a clasp is hinged to the ring and can be lifted similarly to a bridge to allow a key to be added is probably best described with a picture unless someone is really good with words. Inventor?

Something I've always been curious about- exactly who invented the modern keyring, and when? (of course I'm talking about the metal loop type). 76.199.13.11 15:27, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

I'm doing a little research; I find:

• About Key Rings -- references US patent numbers #1327534, #1333655, #1338085, all in 1920.
• WikiAnswers -- someone says "G Herluf Johnson" did it, but that "the ring part" was done by a juggler in Russia from the 1830's..? More on the juggler, from another source, after the tall tale, but this is hardly an authoritative source.
