Is noone spelled "noone" or "no one"?

Hi sigg3. It's "no one", two words. -- Stephen Gilbert
Thanks, mate.

Good day, Sigg3.net. I am sending this message to inform you about the redirection from Zen Buddhism to Zen. You may choose to update the link on your user page. Be well. Usedbook 16:12 22 May 2003 (UTC)

Thanks, mate.

Thank you for your response. I was mostly interested in whether you'd seen either of the films and what you could share with us about their scope, content, and production values. But I've recused myself from the whole matter at this point anyway.

I do not seek out any sort of public life, and certainly don't want an article about me on the Wiki. I have a web site but use it to share information of niche subjects of interest to me, and not as a vanity site. I'm not an artist, never have been, wouldn't want to be. So I doubt jealousy is the motive you think it is. My main reason for getting involved in the matter to begin with is that there are tens of thousands of more deserving, more influential, more accomplished artists who are still too obscure to have proper articles written about them here. The career potter near my home, for one, who has spent a lifetime making vases and cups and plates, of stoneware and of porcelean, with an earthy style uniquely his own. He is unknown outside the local area because he is a recluse and is more interested in his work than its promotion. A local sculptor who teaches and has a large bronze statue on public display in a park. The capable but lesser known painter from the 1960s who made a painting that hangs over my desk. A whole brigade of Midwestern impressionists, who lagged the popularity of the movement and therefore are of only regional interest despite the visual appeal of their works. We'll never, *never* do these topics justice and it is an affront to the accomplishments of these serious, lifetime artists to include, frankly, autobiographical puff pieces. Everything is done according to vanity's rules. We are all self-loving creatures. Check out the "Psychoanalysis" by Sigmund Freud:) As for artists that never promote themselves; I played in a band called Crescent (devoted.to/grunge), and we were anti-commercial, still serious about what we were doing. Heck, we produced 2 fine albums! Only one of them was released, however. We did not promote ourselves and that become our problem. We had to search for people to play for, you know pubs and the likes, because most of them hadn't heard about us. Cloroform (http://www.cloroform.com) is another serious band from Norway, and they promote themselves. Why? Because it's their living. Of course vanity has it's role here too, but when music is the one thing that puts food on your table, you've got to make sure people would want to listen to it. It's a part of being an artist. The non-self-promoting artists are either stupid or not artists. They are talented, gifted, etc. but doesn't see it as something extraordinary. They are. - Sigg3.net 13:45, 3 Aug 2003 (UTC)

I'm not quite sure why I should look at Talk:Quentin Tarantino. All I did to Quentin Tarantino was revert the subjective and unqualified insertion by an anon user. --snoyes 17:11, 30 Nov 2003 (UTC)

Oh, I'm sorry. My fault. Please accept my apology - Sigg3.net 02:13, 1 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Anti-Semitism definition[edit]

Perilous ground to tread indeed. I just removed one thing that was hopelessly wrong, and stayed out of the subsequent editing. :) --snoyes 03:00, 9 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Semantics and whatnot[edit]

Hey, enjoyed the conversation on the Talk:Nihilism page. I was wondering if you've done much study in linguistics, cuz you seem to know your stuff, or at least have a pretty good head with it. If you're interested, I know of a couple linguistics/semantics articles that need some work in a big way. -Seth Mahoney 18:41, Jul 20, 2004 (UTC)

Here in Norway we've got two courses called examen philosophicum and examen facultatum which are required before entering higher-education at universities. The course is very short, but you get an introduction to the basic historical outline of philosophy and logics, not to mention linguistics (at least it's been so the last three or four years). I am in fact very interested in linguistics, but I do not by a long shot know my stuff I just follow the hunch. I'd be pleased if it was anything I could help you with concerning those articles, just pass me links and preferences (if such are required). - Sigg3.net 08:11, 22 Jul 2004 (UTC)
The topics I keep planning to do some work on but can't seem to get the time for are: semiotics, language development, semantics, pragmatics, Ferdinand de Saussure, sociolinguistics, and critical discourse analysis (there are more, but I'm gonna have to do some digging to find them). There's nothing especially wrong with any of them, they're just lacking content, so if there's any basic stuff you can think of that can be thrown in, you have time, and are interested, by all means, go for it.
That is so cool that you are required to take basic philosophy and linguistics courses, however short. I'm a firm believer that a lot of problems could be avoided here in the US if students were required to take even a term of an appropriate ethics class (like business ethics for business majors, medical ethics for medicine majors, etc.). Not that it could be a cure-all, but its always good to get people thinking about things, especially ethics. Anyhow, I won't take up all of your talk page with my rambling about the importance of philosophy, but keep up the good work! -Seth Mahoney 07:10, Jul 23, 2004 (UTC)
I agree with you, but most of young, Norwegian students don't. It's considered old-fashioned and obsolete, and we will probably see it disappear as a course (unless you're digging into hardcore Scientific courses or Philosophy) in less than three years. Too bad, if you ask me. - Sigg3.net 18:06, 2 Aug 2004 (UTC)

devoted.to/grunge[edit]

Hi. You've got this link on your user talk page. The devoted.to domain is about to get blacklisted, which will block edits to pages with these links. You can either disable the link by deleting the http:// in front of it, delete it or leave it where it is until you want to make other changes to your user talk page. For more info on why that domain's being blacklisted, see: meta:Talk:Spam blacklist#700 URL redirection links to clean up. --A. B. (talk) 02:56, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fine, no problem. The band's pretty much dead anyway. -- Sigg3.net (talk) 17:24, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question about Zapffe[edit]

Hi Sigg3

I hope this works and you'll receive this message, but I was looking at this page about Zapffe https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk%3APeter_Wessel_Zapffe where a text called "Måke-egg" is recommended and seeing that you wrote the introduction I was wondering if you can tell me anything more about this? I'm having a hard time finding other references to this text... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:C440:11:D91:7842:F129:CFAE:BBA2 (talk) 17:43, 27 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Chris, I saw your comment on my homepage (April 1st 2019), but I'll reply here too. It's been a while since I've read Zapffe, but I recall 2 texts (other than On the Tragedy) being very inspirational to me. Måke egg is one of them. I don't really remember it, but I would guess it is nostalgic. I will find it in my library, give it a read and get back to you:) Please allow some time - Sigg3.net (talk) 06:46, 1 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Biosophy has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Vague, poorly defined school of thought/new religious movement that seems to have no relevance outside of it's own sphere, which has been inactive for decades. Only sources used are three very small and apparently Biosophy-related websites. One has been inactive since 2005, one was moved to a new URL in 2009 and was last updated at that URL in 2016, and one which has been inactive since 2020. A google search for "biosophy" bring up this page, clones of it on other sites, the inactive websites previously mentioned, and an unrelated Greek health food brand. Additonally, the Wiki page of the philosopher claimed to have created Biosophy does not link to this page or even mention the term. This does not meet WP:NOTE, specifically because no independent sources exist.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 09:00, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
