IBM 1620[edit]

You added the following to the article on the IBM 1620:

Since the punch side of the card reader-punch didn't print the characters across the top of the cards, one had to take any output decks over to a separate machine that read the cards and typed each one on an electric typewriter.

I do not recall an IBM machine that printed on cards using an electric typewriter. Do you recall what machine you used? We had an alphabetic interpreter that would print 60 columns of the card on the card (if you needed all 80, you had to run the cards through it twice using 2 different plugboards), it definitely was not using a typewriter mechanism. Listings were generated using an IBM 407 accounting machine, it used print wheels. -- RTC (talk) 18:19, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
