Regarding the removal of this section:

The Japanese release reportedly allows the player to unlock a polygonal demo featuring Arsenal Gear crashing into the coast of Manhattan after completing the Snake Tales. It was apparently disabled from the localized releases. This is probably related to Konami's modifications of the game following September the 11th, 2001. The original script required for Arsenal Gear to extensively damage Manhattan on screen; in the finished game, there is a simple fade from Arsenal Gear approaching Manhattan to Raiden and Solidus falling from Arsenal onto a rooftop, already deep inside the city. Snippets of the sequence in prodution are available on The Document of Metal Gear Solid 2.

The Japanese version of Substance does not contain this sequence (unlockable or otherwise). None of the versions do.

In fact, as far as I know, this sequence was never even fully modeled, although planned and storyboarded. It is an interesting aspect of MGS2 and Substance, though; maybe it can be edited/corrected and put back into the article.

Cheers for the explaination. Also, I mentioned that snippets could be seen in The Document. In fact, I don't think you could, although you can see it in passing in the "Making of Metal Gear Solid 2" documentary which comes with the European version. Hopefully someone can confirm this. It's definately in one of the two as a model of Arsenal in the midst of a fairly crude (incomplete) model of Manhattan.Sockatume 20:06, 22 Oct 2004 (UTC)
I have the Document of MGS2, and have seen that model. Still, the sequence was not released as fully modeled and isn't in any of the MGS2 or Substance versions. Apparently there are stills of it (not just the model shown in the Document) in Konami guidebooks or artbooks. I'm not 100% sure about that, though.

I've got The Art of Metal Gear Solid 2 and there definately aren't any stills from the sequence in there. Sockatume 15:31, 23 Oct 2004 (UTC)
