Hi,

Thanks for your note about Czastka elementarna. The article has been moved to Polish Wikipedia so it can be safely deleted.

Hi Rholton,

It very much pleases me that you're using Wikipedia:Deleted test. It's important, though, that the pages that are listed there get marked with a notice, as explained at Wikipedia:Deleted test#Using this page.

Cheers, Cyan 01:54, 10 Dec 2003 (UTC)

So should I create a List of people from planet earth? Bmills 12:42, 11 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Why limit it to that? -Anthropos 16:45, 12 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Thanks for your note on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion regarding SPUSA. I was trying to think of a good way to say the same thing, but the words didn't come to me. You summed it up perfectly. Ortonmc 02:04, 12 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Well, apparently it wasn't wholly convincing (sigh!).

So sorry Rholton if I come across as abrasive. All i am trying to do is just to contribute to the wiki, nothing more, i do however object to people listing my pages for VfD just because they object to my profile on my User page and feel that they have a right to 'police' and protect the wiki from any viewpoint other than their own, this as far as i can see is an excuse for fascism to masquerade as democracy. Why these things cannot be discussed on the relevant talk page to the poster before going ape-shit in hostility i do not know. A little power soon goes to peoples heads it appears.. I believe you too would become a little abrasive at just how a few people at the wiki can negatively react ; stating that you don't want to work with me is childish and a negative personality slander, wait to see what happens when you become involved in these editorial disputes, I shall not be writing any negative things to you when it happens, simply because, I really don't know who you are!! The 2 VfD's listed are as far as i can see just knee-jerk reactions by those uninterested in anything beyond the confines of their own quite limited sphere of interest. I am all for tolerance and understanding of others but not for prejudiced bullying and power trips as to what is suitable for the wiki. Besides Library of Sir T.B. has already gone through VfD process which i doubt was checked up on. The supreme irony is that I wrote the piece 'Sir T.B. on America' specifically for an American readership in order to illustrate that Europeans were extremely interested and informed in how America was developing v. early in their history. I've encountered and read many disheartened and dillusioned statements from previous posters who have quit this project from hostile and prejudiced behaviour. Their statements are scattered over the wiki. By the way I looked up the word Anthropos up in dictionary but no luck, I believe it to be a word which C.G.Jung was fond of, meaning 'higher man' am i wrong ? Norwikian 08:48, 17 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Norwikian,

Anthropos is the Greek word for human being, transliterated into English. (the Koine Greek word, at least. I don't know about modern Greek). Nothing more. I'm currently taking a class on Greek, and that nickname popped into my head. I don't know if Jung borrowed this term for some other purpose. You will of course notice that I am not hiding anything -- my full name is prominently displayed on my home page.

As I have said, I have not read any of your contributions, so I have no way to respond to your comments of how people are reacting against "your articles". However, I do know that the idea that they are "your articles" is itself contrary to the Wikipedian "worldview". If that's not already clear to you, you certainly have missed a fundamental aspect of what Wikipedia is all about, and you certainly would be up for a frustrating time.

I, too, sometimes find working on Wikipedia to be frustrating. The whole process is somewhat chaotic. The same page can come up on VFD multiple times, for example. There is no foundational authority here, no "constitution," no true court of law. Anything that I do here is subject to the erratic whims of whoever becomes interested. My opinions can be ignored, criticized, praised, or even erased. Or all of those in the same day. Sometimes I don't like it. But if I don't like what happens here at Wikipedia, I really have no one to blame. I have no right to be contributing here at all. I have the right to free speech, but truly, that does not apply here. If I get too frustrated, the best thing for me to do is simply leave -- stop contibuting, and stop bothering to notice what happens here anymore.

As far as your being abrasive and my not wanting to work with you -- you just need to recognize that the way things work here, you will get much farther in having your point of view considered if you stay calm and on topic. Most people here react positively to rational discussion, even if they disagree with the opinion. At the same time, many people here, including many of the most "influential" and active people, react strongly against anyone who does not conform to the Wikipedian ethos -- and this includes someone who acts possesively towards "their articles" or defends against criticism by attacking the critic(s).

Right or wrong, this is how Wikipedia works as I see it. No one is forcing me to participate at all. I continue purely at my own whim, and purely at the forebearance of those other Wikipedians who are interested, active, and vocal. Surviving here is as much about diplomacy as it is about knoweledge -- perhaps more about diplomacy.

I hope that you will give some thought to what I have said, and see if any of it makes sense. I am willing to continue to have a conversation with you, if that is what you want. But I will not respond to personal attacks or intentional baiting. To this point, I am assuming that it is possible to have a rational conversation with you. If I become convinced that that is not possible, I will stop.

Anthropos -- sorry, you contacted me a while ago about the article jacquerie27, which was a test page. As far as I can tell, I've wiped it, but please delete it properly if it's still showing up as an orphan. Jacquerie27 17:22, 27 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Just copied your incredibly useful list of links for my user page. Thanks. Bmills 10:18, 8 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Did you look at Paul Harrison before voting keep? It was replaced witha copy vio boiler plate a while ago. Just curious. Maximus Rex 02:31, 10 Jan 2004 (UTC)

Lucy tuning[edit]

Before I'm willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt, he's got to learn how to write an NPOV paragraph. The "dissent" "end dissent" doesn't belong in a Wikipedia article. RickK 02:20, 30 Jan 2004 (UTC)
