Knowledge-management based philanthropic endeavours are made easy in this environment. There is even a meta-section for developing the environment. Pic copyright

Hi! and welcome.
I live in Bristol and I've been on Wikipedia since January 2003. I just want to make a small point; it's a requirement that you say if your pics are public domain or whatever. I just looked at Notre-Dame de Paris article and I notice there is no copyright or PD notice when I click on the mag glass.
I don't understand the details of the GNU Free Documentation Licence and luckily I don't have to worry because many of the thousand pics I've put on WP are my own and I've declared them all to be PD. The rest are off PD web pages or I've got permission to use them.
At any rate, some mention of the pics status must be given on the page you get when you click on the mag glass. I've started using the automatic message, which is {{msg:PD}}, underneath my own message. Have a look at Saab 340 to see what the PD message produces.
Also you could have a look at the Image Description Pages from User:Arpingstone/pic list for ideas on how to do messages.

Actually, when a contributor specifies no license but makes clear that he has taken the image himself, the default license - the GNU Free Documentation License - is applied, and the image can be tagged by anyone as such (by adding the text {{msg:GFDL}} to the image page). The public domain is also a good choice, of course. Nonfree licenses are not allowed.--Eloquence* 08:07, May 2, 2004 (UTC)

Your picture is wrong

Mark, the picture you have up on the Battery Park entry in Wikipedia, is not in fact Battery Park, it is the Esplanade at Battery Park City. Historic Battery Park & Battery Park City Parks are two seperate entities, one is a private non profit, the other is part of the NYC parks dept. Pictures taken from Pier A on the West side to State street are Historic Battery Park. Any pictures taken from Wagner Park to Chambers Street between the West Side Highway & the Hudson are Battery Park City Parks. Your Esplanade shot is clearly mislabelled.
