What fun! I came across it while stub-sorting, googled around and began to think it was invented about 3 days ago ... but have now got a 1992 article which was possibly the first source. ... and having expanded it, and found a nice respectable reference to it in a CUP book, I've submitted it as a WP:DYK. Have also made redirects from all the other names. There was an article on Skitt's law which was deleted in Jan 2007 after an AfD, but I think/hope this one should survive! PamD (talk) 09:29, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

... and it's been accepted for DYK so should hit the front page some time soon! By amazing coincidence, this week's issue of the amazing World Wide Words newsletter mentioned the law, though as McKean's law or The Law of Prescriptive Retaliation, in the second para of the first section - I emailed the editor to point out the name Muphry's law and our Wikipedia article on it, so it might get a mention in next week's issue! Proposed deletion of William Taylor White

The article William Taylor White has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Notability not demonstrated, tagged since Oct 2007. No notability during life, just an unusual story about his coffin being abandoned and discovered during construction works.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.
