Apart from a lot small points and the question of style, all discussed on the talk page, the most problematic point at the moment is the section, which is sometimes titled "The Arab liberation of Egypt" and at other times "The Arab Invasion and Occupation of Egypt". --Pjacobi 10:13, 2005 Mar 3 (UTC)

This article is a shame at the moment: I'm glad you brought to review. The lead section needs a rewrite. It needs to be a straightforward, factual introduction to Coptic Christianity. There is no need for any controversial claims (e.g. original church in Egypt stuff) in the lead section. The power change in Egypt from the Byzantine Empire to the Islamic Caliphate has to be put in its broad context: many Egyptians were unhappy with Byzantine administration and welcomed the change. Coptic Christians, who were often considered as heretics, or at least not fully Orthodox, by the Byzantine administration, had good reason to oppose Constantinople. There seems to be the gloss of modern Egyptian politics on this at the moment. It looks like the careful application of neutrality throughout the article would be beneficial. I'll see if can help.
