- Keep it is a stub which was just created last night. Its not even a day old yet. Having this is better then having nothing in the Irish entry for European colonization of the Americas, as I said it just needs something written about te history of Irish Americans. --Josquius 19:23, 10 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- People have mentioned what should be in the article yet no one has done anything, is that not what stubs are meant to be for? Since Ireland is listed on the colonization of the Americas series there is meant to be a article of some kind here, I merely made a stub to draw attention to it. --Josquius 18:23, 13 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- The topic is valid enough to be expanded upon, perhaps as part of Immigration to the United States of America or a link therefrom, but the title is horrible. Colonization is commonly understood to mean conquest by a state. Immigration is the proper phraseology, if I'm understanding your intent correctly. - Weak Keep: I don't particularly care strongly one way or another on this, but it's important to note that Irish colonization might mean one of two things, either colonization done by the government of Eire or colonization by groups of non-government-affiliated Eires. - If you mean colonies like Jamestown, started by a group of private citizens under British patent, Ireland did not start any. If you are talking about "enclaves" of settlement, I don't see why that wouldn't be discussed in an article like Irish Diaspora or more generally, perhaps a title like Irish emigration or Irish emigration to the Americas if we want to be that specific. - I was hoping to see an article on the theories of the Celtic tribes from Ireland that people like amateur historian Barry Fell think were on the North American contintent several thousand years ago (proving this through rock artifacts with various, obscure Celtic scripts carved into them).
