I have added links to the full version of the in-game opera, (All of it, from the beginning symphony to the battle music against Ultros) as well as a sample of the arranged version. This article was sorely in need of samples of this most beautiful work of art. I'm fairly certain the sample of the arranged version qualifies as fair use, although I'm not so certain about the other, full version. Then again, these songs are readily avaliable all over the internet, and nobody seems to care, so I think I'm safe in posting a link to it.

Small modification[edit]

I added just a small comment, concerning the unique idea and character to include an extra written opera for a RPG. Since this opera is the only (as far as I know) master-piece written for a game.

Original Super Nintendo Woolsey Translation[edit]

Why isn't the original Ted Woolsey translation from the Super Nintendo version on this page? I see in the history of the article that they were removed due to copyright violations, and yet the Japanese and the Italian versions were not? Or does copyright not apply to things written in non-English languages?

I'm re-adding the English lyrics unless someone can give me a good reason why they should go. (And if it's copyvio, why that doesn't apply to the Japanese or Italian lyrics.) Viltris 21:59, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Do not include the song's entire lyrics unless it is public domain per song guidelines. I believe it is not possible to write the EXACT copyrighted lyric (in example, the japanese version with kanjis, or the english as it appears in the game). However, I am not a lawyer. I don't think there is an official italian version of the lyrics, copyrighted by Square. -- ReyBrujo 22:14, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the sentence "The English translation below, following the direct Japanese to English lyrics, is the work of the game's official translator, Ted Woolsey" from the article because the Woolsey translation doesn't actually appear in the article anymore, making this sentence an error. I'm not disputing the fact that Woolsey is the official translator of FF6. I removed the sentence on the grounds that it led people to believe that the English translation after the Japanese text was the official Woolsey translation, which it isn't. Viltris 19:38, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
