Catalan postalveolars[edit]

I noticed a string of edits have added dubious tags to several articles related to Catalan but you have not yet made any talk page edits in regards to them. Do you have new sources to back up your assertions? — Ƶ§œš¹ [aɪm ˈfɹ̠ˤʷɛ̃ɾ̃ˡi] 16:05, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Uh oh[edit]

If ˈɡ looks like ˈɣ to you, then you have a font rendering issue on your computer. See WP:IPA#Voiced velar plosive. I assure you that the only change I made there was of the stress marker; I changed the apostrophe ' to ˈ. — Ƶ§œš¹ [aɪm ˈfɹ̠ˤʷɛ̃ɾ̃ˡi] 08:15, 2 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi![edit]

Ciao, as perhaps you noticed, I was lately very interested in Spanish, and Catalan in particular, buildings, such as the two monasteries you tweaked a bit. Can I ask you which is more considered in Spain/Catalonia, the comarca or the province? Is the comarca role more important politically, or it's just a traditional subdivision? Second: before my wife got pregnant, I was mumbling to travel to Cap de Creus and from there visiting northern Catalonia (I've already been in Barcelona, and all Italians go there! So I want something different and less banal). Is it worthwhile? What to visit around there apart the peninsula iself? When is the better period to go? Ciao and thanks, and sorry for the many questions! --'''Attilios''' (talk) 19:45, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ciao, I'll try to answer your questions:
First, you should notice that the usage of either comarques (plural of comarca) or provinces has political and cultural significance in Catalonia.
The comarca is nowadays an administrative structure of the Catalan Government. The division in comarques date back to the Second Republic, around 1930s, originally based in historical regions (like Pallars, Vallès, Empordà, etc). The map of comarques has changed since then to adjust to demographic and infrastructure shifts.
The province is an administrative structure of the Spanish State dating back from mid 19th century.
But you are asking for the political role: the province has more importance, as it manages a much bigger budget than a comarca, and it is the electoral district for the Spanish Cortes in Madrid.
The second question is more personal, so I cannot tell if my answer will be useful to you or not.
The best time to visit the Costa Brava is out of season in spring and autumn: April or May (of course avoiding Easter), and October. (I would add end of september as well, but notice 24 september is holiday in Barcelona, so on that weekend in particular all places will be full of people coming from there). If you like bad weather, rough sea, and strong north wind (tramontana) you will find them here in Empordà. As you seem to be interested in monasteries, you have the chance for a strenuous walk to the ruins of the Monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes. Cadaques is a place a little too posh and expensive for my taste but it has its charm.
Somewhat further down the coast, I like Llafranc, the same place chosen by Tom Sharpe, it is quiet and perfect off-season.
In autumn and going inland, it is also interesting the comarca of Garrotxa, with extinct volcanoes and forests of beech and chestnut, but maybe you find that too much geriatric-wise.
Feel free to ask more concrete questions if you please. (in Italian as well)
Anyway, piacere.
Me and my wife are calm people, and especially I like sea and mountain in tranquil seasons, not crowded. I live in Turin, so my idea for two weeks of vacations was to spend one in southern France, then one in northern Catalonia. But now the upcoming baby has changed the situation... maybe I'll come in 2012. Let's see... in the meantime I thank you again (coem si dice "ciao" e "grazie" in Catalano?) e... alla prossima!! --'''Attilios''' (talk) 10:48, 15 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request for help and a little question[edit]

Ciao! I just wanted, if you've time, to know if you can help with the translation of Cathedral of Girona... I did my best from the original Catalan article, and other sources, but of course there's still much missing considering the importance of the site (I wonder how if really COULD be such a poor article for such a marvel before my intervention!!!). Also a question: the plural of Catalan inhabitants name are always with final "s"? Say, Santpedorencs and Manresàs. I doubt in the last case there's no "s". Let me know and thanks so much in advance! Have fun. --'''Attilios''' (talk) 23:10, 17 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ciao.
I will check that article on Cathedral of Girona in en.wikipedia.
And about the other question, i plurali catalani sonno diversi dai italiani:

Please sort your stubs[edit]

Next time you make an stub about Catalonian linquists, please put {{Catalonia-scientist-stub}} instead of {{stub}}, and do the similar for any stub that you write. Thanks. --I dream of horses If you reply here, please leave me a {{Talkback}} message on my talk page. @ 02:34, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Catalan culture Challenge[edit]

Hello! I've seen that you are one of the main editors of the Antoni Maria Alcover i Sureda article and I just want to inform you that the article is featured at the the Catalan Culture Challenge, a Wikipedia editing contest in which victory will go to those who start and improve the greatest number of articles about 50 key figures of Catalan culture. It goes from March 16 to April 15. You can take part by creating or expanding articles on these people in your native language (or any other one you speak). It would be lovely to have you on board. :-) Amical Wikimedia --Kippelboy (talk) 07:10, 15 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
