The Brown Anole[edit]

Brown anoles are some of the most curious lizards in the United States. Although they may seem quite boring to the regular person, if you really take time to look at anything it becomes very interesting all at once.

Brown anoles are actually the Cuban/Bahama anole that came over on a boat to Florida and took over. Now they are known as "Florida lizards" to the residents there, and they live almost everywhere.

The most common lizard in Florida used to be the green anole, but the brown anole thrived there and so took most of the green anole's food. This happens frequently with invader species everywhere.

Anoles in general make good pets. They are hardy and easy to train because when they bite, it doesn't huet as much as when larger lizards bite. Anoles are also big enough so that they do not get lost, but small enough so that they can be carried around, although I wouldn't suggest this because they like to jump.
