[[Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg<|right|]] The Dnyarri are a fictional race of aliens from the Star Control series of PC games. They posess telepathic powers, and are able to influence the actions of susceptible individuals via mind control. They used these powers to enslave the Ur-Quan, who eventually broke free when an Ur-Quan scientist discovered that inflicting excruciating pain on themselves could temporarily disrupt the Dnyarri's control. The Ur-Quan eventually subjugated the Dnyarri, stripping them of their self-awareness and using them for the 'menial' task of translation. These genetically modified, non-sentient Dnyarri are known as Talking Pets.
