Ambiguity[edit]

The word "billion" has ambiguity in its meaning; it can mean either 10^9 or 10^12 depending on the region of earth. Any proposed alternative to this abbreviation?? Georgia guy 01:28, 2 Mar 2005 (UTC)

SI?[edit]

I thought year wasn't even compatible for use with SI as no one can decide which type of year to use so surely it shouldn't be used with SI prefixes in any form (including Ga). —Joe Llywelyn Griffith Blakesley talk contrib 01:46, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Addressed both above. Would prefer to see all of kyr, Myr, Byr merged into Annum LeadSongDog 08:05, 25 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Gyr vs Byr[edit]

Why is there no Gyr page, and why is there a Byr page instead, that goes on to explain in the very short Byr article that the term Byr is deprecated, but the term Gyr is still sometimes used? To me that screams 'rename the page to Gyr'! (not at my usual IP) --82.157.248.141 (talk) 10:36, 20 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
