This name seems to have been used by Anon IPs... --Sgeo 00:54, Dec 23, 2004 (UTC)

Is that a problem? I created this account from my home computer on a Roadrunner network. If its anon that would be my router. --moseythedino[[User talk:moseythedino|o]8:09, Dec 22, 2004 (UTC)

The only problem is that for voting matters such as VfD, the vote you cast may be weighted by your edit history; 100 edits or so is roughly considered "voting age". This is to prevent people from sabotaging the voting process by bringing in newcomers who feel passionately about the article's subject but may not understand (or feel passionately about) Wikipedia's goals or processes. If you cast a vote without logging in first, a) it delays your own building-up of edit history, b) it causes confusion, as we can't tell whether the vote really was cast by you or by someone else who used your name.

I think there's a way administrators can check IP addresses against user names so that you can get particular edits credited to your user name, but once you have a user name, the best thing to do is always log in first, so you get the credit on your edit history. -- Antaeus Feldspar 16:52, 23 Dec 2004 (UTC)
