Welcome Tim,

You have done a good job so far in Wikipedia, also called 'Pedia or WP. I can see that you're a serious Wikipedian interested in improving our project. If you stay for a while, you'll discovered that collectively, we're a cooperative and friendly community. If you have questions or doubts of any sort, do not hesitate to post them on the Village Pump, somebody will respond ASAP. Other helpful pages include:

Just keep in mind that discussions and constructive criticisms and are welcome, but anything destructive in nature is not. More importantly, we do not tolerate discrimination of any kind. Who knows? Perhaps you'll soon become a Wikipediholic and/or one of Wikipedia:Most active Wikipedians! :-) --Menchi 19:48 May 10, 2003 (UTC)

I noticed that one of your signatures seems to be lacking one bracket, so I assume that it's because you manually type it out. You don't have to, there's a shortcut: ~~~~, like this: --Menchi 01:29 May 13, 2003 (UTC)

Thanks for the tip. --Timmansfield 15:45 May 15, 2003 (UTC)

translating from ja.wikipedia[edit]

Hi - You asked (in email) about translating from ja.wikipedia. Perhaps perversely, content from other language wikipedias is not considered a reliable source - see Wikipedia:Reliable sources. This doesn't mean we can't use anything from the ja.wikipedia, just that we can't cite it as a source (anything in ja.wikipedia should cite its source, so we should in general cite the original source not ja.wikipedia). If you want to translate entire sections or articles from ja.wikipedia you can, in fact there is a project set up for this (see Wikipedia:Translation/*/Lang/ja). You don't have to participate in the project to translate articles, but you might find Template:Translation/Ref useful. Specifically about Yamaguchi Prefecture, you can certainly add the fish to the infobox (if that's what you mean). Gunma Prefecture lists its fish. I can add more "symbol" parameters to Template:Infobox Prefecture Japan if you'd like and don't know how to do this yourself. If "fish", "song", and "beast" (animal?) are common we could add these as explicit parameters. Let me know if you'd like me to do this. -- Rick Block (talk) 21:34, 28 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Japan taskforces[edit]

In order to encourage more participation, and to help people find a specific area in which they are more able to help out, we have organized taskforces at WikiProject Japan. Please visit the Participants page and update the list with the taskforces in which you wish to participate. Links to all the taskforces are found at the top of the list of participants.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and thank you for helping out! ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 01:57, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
